My boyfriend and I have been arguing this one for a while. We both understand plastic can leach when microwaved and use non plastic. We never cover in suran wrap. I am the queen of wax paper. I know we eat wax all the time so I feel it is safe. People even ate it from honey. I told him we could get unbleached wax paper. He insists that he must cook uncovered and splatter because that is not safe. I also understand that paper towels without printing are fine and willing to go unbleached as well.

Has anyone got a real answer they read because they care about their family? A nutritionist? A food safety person? A link?

Please no uncaring answers. Just say you do not know if you do not and I may pick you. If all I get are mean answers I will delete the whole question. I do not know is fine. Other options for the microwave that are non plastic are fine also.

Thanks in advance. Moms wellcome.

I don't know 100% if its safe, but I have used it on my microwaved food for me, my husband and 4 kids. You can use it to line pans when you are baking, so I don't see why you can't do it there without the harm. If you are concerned, you can use paraffin wax paper. That is the soy wax that is used in a lot of foods and cooking/baking items.

Also, if you are concerned about the food splattering in the microwave, then you can always put a paper towel over the dish. That way you will know for sure that nothing is leaching into your food. Also, I know for sure that there are Tupperware dishes, and probably other companies dishes, with a top that has a pop-up valve for ventilation. You might want to get something like that so, you know for sure that the food is getting cooked, heated evenly and everything stays clean.

Plastic wrap they say is toxic and so is warming up your food in plastic containers. I have never heard anything harmful in using wax paper. I use it to warm up by sandwiches, etc.

It is the microwave that you should be worried about.
My husband is a doctor, my sister is a nutritionist with a PHD and I am an RN. Absolutely not one of our relatives cooks with a microwave and not one of our relatives is overweight.
