me and my boy-friend have been dating for 3 months now. i'm 17 and this is the first real relationship i've ever been in. i've never broke up with a boy before, they've always broken up w/me. i don't think i could do it to his face. i feel like i don't want a boy-friend right now and he's starting to get on my nerves. i want to be free to do what i want my senior year. what do i do??

what's wrong w/breaking up w/him over the phone.?? ain't no law against it is there?? if that makes u feel comfortable then do it.. just make sure ur honest and up front and not harsh or disrespecful when u do it that's all.. doing it face to face could get really ugly... i'd block his # to so that he can't call u trying to win u back..
ur still young, so if a relationship is not what u want then get rid of him asap..
good luck..

YES - you should always deliver the news in the most 'personal' manner you had contact - 'on line' people, you can dump in email; phone people you can dump on the phone - but RL people - you need to do it face to face. It's uncomfortable as hell, but it's a matter of respect!
If you think he might become abusive, do it in public - such as a restaurant - where he'll be more likely to restrain himself, and there's people to stop him if he doesn't.
Chin up - it's gonna happen a lot more times before the music stops, the sooner you learn how to handle it, the better off you'll be...
What is wrong with breaking up over the phone - is that it's disrespectful. You have been involved with this guy for three months - you have most likely shared feelings, dreams, said 'I Love You', perhaps had sex - Now, because you have had a change of 'heart', you wish to cancel that closeness. This is not the same thing as canceling a dentist appointment! If he is in love with you, you are going to hurt him - while you can't avoid his hurt, you have an obligation to show respect and accept responsibility for it - it's what 'maturity' is all about - it's what grown-ups DO.

Well if you feel this strongly about breaking it off then you should i suggest you break up face2face tho it just seems wrong to do it over the phone and would make him feel worse breaking up face2face sounds meaner but it isnt it would make him like an idiot breaking up over the phone
P.S. 3 months isnt a real relationship try to go for 6 months cuz i really dont think yall sould break up

Three months is somewhat a significant time and if you respect him you should break up with him in person. Now if you really dont want to, then i guess you can do it over the phone... just make sure its not over txt msg or voice mail... actually talk to him.

i'll spare you a super long answer, and give you the gist. NEVER break up with someone on the phone. NEVER. no exceptions. if you don't want a boyfriend, then you need to tell him that the time is just not right. thats it. he'll understand, hopefully. and don't let down your guard! stick to your plan, and don't let him change ur mind!

You wanted to play adult and start dating, now you can act like an adult and break up in person. Phone break ups are a sign of immaturity and cowardice.

For a three month relationship it's okay to do it over the phone, it's not like you are married or anything.
