No one is giving me a serious answer, this is a serious question. People keep saying "yes, it's bad, don't do it" but, I want to know WHY it's bad. Read the question, or don't bother answering.

Have heard that as well in the Middle East (Lebanon) many, many times. I always treated it like a myth and mixed these a couple of times and never had a problem. But yesterday my friend cooked fish in milk and it's gross. It just smells bad and is repulsive. I don't know if it's the fish or the combination. So, bottom line: just combining fish and milk in a meal won't trigger some kind of weird reaction and make you ill. Don't worry about that. But combining a smelly (smoked or otherwise) fish is just gross and a horrible culinary taste. But the right fish with the right cream-based sauce can taste great!

In Biblical times it was part of the dietary laws when refrigeration and food preservation were not easily solved problems, that fish and milk should not be served together. It hass followed on in the Kosher tradition.

Some experts promote not mixing carbohydrates with protein. Sure, a few foods contain both naturally, like legumes (which are not easy to digest) but meat and potatoes, pastrami on rye, chicken on rice give you stuff that wastes a lot of your energy trying to process and not effective fuel. And a lot of heartburn and overeating.
Okay, milk and fish are both "protien", however, I have a lot of issues with milk. The stuff on the store shelves is in a form that actually pulls calcium from your body not ad to it. There is no good reason for a human to be drinking cow's milk past the age of 2. Got milk? You got bone loss. Countries that consume the most dairy products have the most osteoporosis, countries that use the least dairy have the least osteroporosis. Dairy is a political lobby group more than a food group.

Only if you don't eat meat and dairy products at the same time, Don't know of any ill effects of eating the two, and many do not consider fish a meat.

If you could eat fish with milk without gagging I don't think it would settle well in the stomach.
Never eat bananas with cow's milk either. Indigestion!

Dear Silly,
I have heard a rumor about that - as far as I know, there's no physical health reason.
The Orthodox Jews might have a prohibition against that under their general Kosher-law prohibition against dairy and meat being eaten together.

If you recently drank milk with fish and this is how you now ask questions, then yes, I'd say it's bad for you.
