Finally! A question asking about my own back yard! I'd definitely recommend Gatlinburg for your honeymoon. It's a happening town surrounded by tons of cabins available to rent. I had my bachlorette party there! I'd lean more towards Gatlinburg over Pigeon Forge for your honeymoon. Check out the sources - I put the gatlinburg tourism website link so you can check out the town - check out their lodging recommendations. I also included three cabin rentals that I have personally used and was quite happy with.

Congratulations! Have a blast! *k*

Have you searched the internet? There are TONS of beautiful places around Gatlinburg!! I have never seen a cabin/chalet up there that I wouldn't stay in. If you are afraid of heights, I wouldn't stay on the mountain going up to Ober Gatlinburg where you can ski and ice skate. The drive is on a winding mountain road and, at times, you are right on the edge of the mountain with very little railing. Kinda scary!! :) I would suggest going up the mountain though for a day. It's really beautiful up there and the scenery is AMAZING! Have you ever been to Gatlinburg before? If not, email me and I can help you out with some more info. My fiance's dad is the President of a chalet place up there, so he'll definitely be able to recommend some places for you! Also, my sister and her husband got married in Gatlinburg and stayed there for the honeymoon in 2004. They had a cute little cabin tucked away in a quiet place, but it was near Pigeon Forge closer to the more touristy area.

Good luck and Congratulations!!

If you search smokey mountain cabins/chalets, you will find tons of websites. I would highly recomend getting a cabin--I'm not sure about the Chalets, I have never stayed at one. Some of the rental companies do have pools or other things to do--just depends on what you want. Definately get one that has a hot tub. We stayed at one last March & it was the best vaca we could have taken. One of the really popular rental companies and the one we used was Cobbly Nob www.cobbly.com or www.almostheavenresort.com phone #1800-720-3607 If you want a suggestion, we stayed at the cabin called Snuggle bug--it is one bedroom, well really one room with kitchen, living room, bedroom, jacuzzi tub, hot tub on back porch, and pool table upstairs on a loft. The view is AMAZING and very peaceful. Hope this helps, good luck and congratulations--Oh, remember you have to bring all food and drinks, & you get to cook.

Go to the Rocky Mountains. I dont know of the name of the cabins but on your way to Estes Park, Colorodo there is the most beautiful cabins set on the Colorodo river. Here is a link to look at all of the beautiful cabins: http://www.estespark.us/EP-Lodging-Cabins-Cottages.HTML . You can stay on the water then take a trip to denver and do the city thing too. I absolutely love Colorodo and would recommend it to anyone. If you have any questions just ask. And yes, they are as beautiful in real life and so romantic!

i'm not sure of any great places in the smokeys, i hear gatlinburg is nice...but you can go to the appalachian mts (just as another option.) just a small fyi...i'm from WV and it is one of the cheapest states. things don't cost as much, except for perhaps gas. so, you may get a better/cheaper honeymoon deal here than in the smokeys. they are a popular mountain honeymoon destination. prices tend to be a little higher. search wv state parks and you'll come up with tons of great (inexpensive) parks tucked in the mountains with beautiful scenery, and very private places to spend your time together. my boyfriend's brother and his wife honeymooned at pipestem state park for their honeymoon in late sept./early oct. last year. they had a great time. they also just had a baby boy a month ago. you do the math... ;)
wherever you go, have a great time and enjoy!

Gatlinburg Tennessee is a very beautiful place to honymoon. My wife and I honeymooned there nearly 10 years ago, and is planning to go back next March to celebrate our 10th anniversary there. Just google Gatlingburg Tn. There's many lovely places there in many price ranges. And plenty of shopping, attractions, and shows to keep you amused when you're tired of the bedroom!

I did a quick search in Yahoo with the phrase "smokey mountain honeymoons" and came up with (no joke!) 32,100 listings.
