I believe some are over-compensating for feelings of impotence. There is a war and they feel the need to take a stand somewhere. They lack the courage, honor and motivation to take on the responsibility of fighting for the ideals we stand for, but can't accept in their own minds that it is because they are deficient. So first they find fault with the war, and then the government, and finally with those who actually are fighting. Those fighting have set the bar too high for them, and set standards of patriotism they are incapable of achieving. It's like someone watching an athletic event and after determining feats are being performed of which they are incapable, walk away feeling dejected, calling the event stupid or unfair.

Well, I'm not going to insult anybody. Both sides of the war are to blame, I don't bash any troops whatsoever. Why? Because, a lot of our troops are just regular people supporting families, and that's why it's not religion's fault either - the government is just using religion for support. Really though, it's all just greed. But back to the original qustion, I'm against the government, not our troops.

All depends which nations troops we are talking about..
if it's American troops ,I would say compensate for the death of there loved ones plus being arrogant ..if it's British troops about the same with a plus, they have a history of oppressing so the compensation they pay is for the pass..

their fears.
People don't view the troops as individuals but as a part of the big Army Machine. They fear the repercussions that the war will bring on them. They are protesting the necessity of war and often do not concern themselves with what negative comments might do to the moral of the individuals who's job it is to protect what we hold so dear, our freedom. The Press reports the negatives, death and destruction, but often fails to tell the whole story from both sides of the conflict from a neutral perspective, which leads to ignorance.

Well, I dont know what they compensate for, but here's my thoughts on that:

Whoever bashes on the troops should go to boot camp and be sent off to Iraq and see whats really going on over there. O ya, my daddy (Leut. Dave Jones of the US Navy) says hello.

I don't know as they're compensating for anything, but rather they're most likely scared and/or angry and don't know how else to vent. Incidentally, my sister served in Iraq and got back this past January. It drives me insane to hear the comments some people make. It's like they check their brain at the door and so thus, can't think before they speak.

there own cowardice. i served and am i am proud of that i came home with a bad leg and a bad back but i would do all again. we were not liked by the many of the locals because we took there girls and we jumped several times just for being military, by americans, but i would still do it all over again. the things i did were very important to your freedom, i wish i could talk about it but i would be put in prison.

I am not sure they are compensating for anything! It is similar, but not the same as, "people who bash Bush do it to compensate for:! I hate Bush and I am not compensating for anything. He deserves it!

I don't bash the troops, but I have been critical of some, who murder and rape children and innocent people. They have no God! They have no honor! They insult America and deserved to be removed permanently!

Some people bash them because they don't like Bush or America's new found policy of preemptive strikes, as they have found out how easy it is to manipulate a nation for ones own end, and sacrifice a lot of people doing it!

I have heard many on here criticize Israeli troops, when they are following orders, just because they hate Jewish people! We have done far worse in Iraq! Many are the same who bash Jew's that would ask this question!

I also love people who ask these questions, as many have never served! Most, if not all, have never been in combat! And they belong to the same party who has cut the budget of Veteran's hospitals by 6 BILLION when we have had military coming home without limbs due to IED's for 3 years! Please explain to me how YOU are supporting the troops?

You don't have to do it directly by bashing them verbally, but you can slap them in the face by letting YOUR LEADER get away with such nonsense as cutting the Veteran's budget, which about all of you have done! I would be ashamed of myself if I did nothing! And I damn sure would not be asking this question!

Finally, many of you equate bashing Bush with bashing the troops! You are wrong. Many people can actually do more than one thing at a time because at least those who do it verbally do it to their faces, not behind there backs!

And please do not equate Iraq with freedom! The Iraq war has NOTHING to do with freedom!!

And David, this is suppose to be a free country! We don't deport people who disagree with you under the 1st Amendment of the Constitution of the United States. Obviously, you have never read it, and if you have, you don't have a clue as to what it means, For me, I have EARNED the right, have you?

Among other things their low self esteen. They also know they have that right as American. Of course you don't see them going to other Countries and pulling that crap. I don't think they would walk up to a Red Bloodied GI and start mouthing off, they just might his "Clock Cleaned". God Bless Our Troops
