There are a lot more cons to this question than pros! One pro that I could think of would be that examination helps to determine which subjects need to be worked on and what children learn is being put to use by having exams constantly come up which tests their knowledge. This way teachers can expand the criteria that the children are learning. Only most of what is being taught focuses more on test scores and stays on that path so that schools can get recognition!

yes, the "Joy" of learning has become a slave to examinatinon... because all things "learned" are still subjective. u may think u know more and more things, but people will not necessarily believe u Just because u studied it. they start doubting u, and begin to make tests and try to "stump" you. now, instead of learning about chemistry for fun, and making mistakes along the way, we have to Be Perfect, pass certain exams and levels of school, until we can prove that we deserve some kind of recognition, by passing higher and harder tests, etc. so many people become turned off, they don't want to do chem anymore. they want to do something easier, something that doesn't take so much time and effort...

also, failing tests can demotivate you from having that joy to learn. it's a very negative thing, and detrimental to your confidence and personal feeling of ability (blow to ur ego) if u cannot pass a test, *even though u KNOW it all*, u just can't get that 70% pass (my bf had that problem w/ the Bar exam). it was really bringing him down, he failed a few times, and he finally passed, but it was a huge weight on his shoulders; he was seriously contemplating a different line of work.

examination helps to filter out those who CAN and WANT to go all the way....but it also deters those who WANT to but can't fulfill all of our Social, Educational (and somewhat biased) requirements needed to get to the next level..and their joy of learning gets hindered...

hope that makes sense.. i pulled it out of my ***!! :)

btw... u have to be confident in ur material in order to get over stress.. u have to really believe in what ur saying, and memorize ur points, but also be able to understand the pros and cons so that u can answer any questions. always research and do a thorough job so u won't blank out...if u really understand the material, not just memorize it, u will do fine. :)

**also, there are people who CAN do those things, pass all the tests by memorizing and learning, but not cuz they LOVE doing it. they do it for the money, or the prestige. that is hard for people who do it for the Joy of learning, and find their peers doing better than them. it's all about the mind, and motivating urself... feeling that u have to continously be tested and examined is hard on the mind and soul.
