Yes, I have a pretty severe allergy to chlorine. I can't even drink regular tap water. I have to limit my shower time or I get these nasty bumps like hives. I hate it because I can't really go to any pools. People don't seem to understand that I'm not making it up or stuck up when I won't drink tap water. I would really like to hear from others with this problem, maybe I could start some kind of support group.

I don't know if I would call it "allergic" to chlorine, but I have developed a sensitivity to chlorine that identifies that it is a dangerous allergen. Only one or two certain pools have caused me to break out in hives. I took a shower and used a lot of topical cream. It was interesting what happened after.
You know how Benadryl makes you sleepy? Try the drug absorbed into the skin over your whole body. I slept for days after that. I'm more careful about swimming now.

A friend of mine would get really itchy after being in the water she would have to take a shower right away, sort of like the way grass makes you feel. So, she had a small allergy to it but not enough to prevent her from swimming.

High concentrations of Chlorine bleach make me sneeze and get hives, but the normal amount diluted in a pool causes me no troubles.
