I don't think it's sinful to read fantasy or most other literature. God gave people talents for writing these great stories, and some books like the Lord of the Rings and the Chronicles of Narnia have many parallels to the story of Jesus in them and/or were written by believers. I read all kinds of books, from the two I've already mentioned to Stephen King to Tom Robbins and much more. I take this the same way I take listening to secular music: as long as I know it's fiction and it doesn't stir up sinful thoughts in my mind, it's perfectly okay to enjoy. People need a maturity level to distinguish between reality and fiction, and I guess not everyone has that. God didn't put us on the earth to be completely without entertainment and pleasure. One would just have to know what they feel in their heart is right. Does that make sense?

well of course it is not a sin to read mythology ! and it is not sinful to enjoy the story! But it is a sin to worship it ( any image, animal or anything ) according to the bible and what i believe.
1) It is a sin because it is the second commandment of the ten commandments in the bible.
2) Think about it.
3)Does gods are not real!

If you worship the gods in those storys it is not a sin. To sin against the christian god, you have to follow and belive in him. To many, christian works, are mythology. To me, it is a sin to take the christian bible as more then a work of fiction.

No, it's not sinful to read them. Only to worship other gods because God said "you will not have other gods". jesus is the truth so we should not believe in other gods (we don't need to!). But reading mythology is OK. I enjoy reading Harry Potter, but I don't believe in magic or stuff, it's just good entertainment. i don't see what could be wrong. I hope it helped you.

I personally really like the chronicals of Narnia and think all 7 are terrific, I think fantasy can have alot of benefits
we live out stories of our lives, God speaks to use thorugh his story of history
it would be good to be able to critically see the world view presented in the story and recongnize it.. all sotries have some axe to grind so to speak...

reading things like harry potter that justifies witchcraft, makes you want to worship false gods, justifies false gods, or gives you sinful pleasure is a sin.
