I had an eye stye before too. It was kind of big. I never went to the doctor, took pills or had surgery. It started getting smaller and smaller. One time I went to the eye doctor and asked him to look at it. He said that it was now basically scar tissue and he wouldn't recommend me to have an operation on it. Finally, now it's all gone. Can't feel a thing, not even the scar tissue. I didn't do anything to it, it just went away on it's own.

My gram always used a hot tea bag, and held it over her eye 15 minutes or so several times a day. This draws out the infection. Your doc can prescribe an antibiotic ointment if it doesn't go away within a week, and if that doesn't clear it up then it will have to be lanced. HOWEVER, most clear up without incident. A stye is caused by clogged glands on your eyelids. You can prevent them by washing your eyelids with johnson's and johnson's no tears shampoo. Take a warm damp washcloth and gently rub the edge of your lid, at the base of your eyelashes. Btw Tricia, most stye's go away within 3 days, so your answer cracked me up!

I know this is gonna sound crazy, but trust me it worked whenever my mom did this both on us and now on her grandchildren. All you need to do is to take a tooth of garlic (make sure it's clean, you can peel it too), cut it and then rub it to your stye. It's going to hurt at first but you'll see it's gonna work.
Note: I doubt if we are talking about the same thing. I didn't know they do surgery on styes.

Try putting a warm towel compress on it (just soak the towel in hot/boiling water and let it cool a little bit) and keep it there for a while. Just repeat this and it should go away after a few days/week.

I've never heard of one hanging around that long! I just put ointment in my eye from the doc. and it was gone in 2 days. Sounds like you need to see a different doc.!

Are you certain it is a stye and not a skin tag? I am not trying to make you feel ignorant, please know that. The above website gives excellent information.
Good luck.
