Scripture also tells us we must "Test" the spirits.
There are evil and satanic spirits that can also work miracles.
Just because some great miraculous event was performed does not mean you should fall inline and follow them. Some people become so cynical or self absorbed they will not be able to discern either and eventually walk away from all of it.
People who would deny and fight against true prophets of God are probably already following the evil influences.
There is, and always has been, a spiritual war raging on that most people cannot perceive. Read this book:

all of the christians who have answered this question are completely missing the point. nowadays there are no miracles that are clearly supernatural. that's why there are atheists. it is a lie to say that atheists "choose" not to believe in god. there is no way to choose a belief. we inevitably believe whatever makes sense to us. if there had really been miracle-performing-prophets back in the days of jesus, then EVERYONE who would have witnessed those miracles would have believed. the fact that there were disbelievers is a strong indication that all those magic tricks never actually took place. they were just added to the bible hundreds of years later.

For the same reason that if anyone identified as a prophet today performed a miracle there would still be unbelievers, probably more than there would be in times of antiquity.

You seem to answer your own question. There are a lot of people who still wouldn't believe, even if they witnessed something. Just like today, it was that way back then, too.
Also, the prophets had a habit of telling the truth, rather than what people wanted to hear. Wouldn't you rather believe someone telling you sunshine and rainbows instead of making you see the bad that was really going on?

The day that someone goes to a graveyard and begins (supernaturally, cloning doesn't count) raising people from the dead, I will no longer be a member of the atheist community.

God says in the qur'an that when his signs are shown to mankind they say this is just magic. Like when Moses showed his signs to Pharoah and he called Moses a magician. They are astray and unless guided they will not believe until they are raised, where they will be surrounded by everything that they mocked.

In answer to your second question, yes I would...
Well, not immediately. At first, I'd look at it like a card trick. I would presume that there was a logical explanation behind it. But if I couldn't find one, I would be forced to accept that I had in fact seen a miracle.
Theists call me stubborn and single-minded. I'm not at all, in fact.

it is said the holy al-quran, prophet muhammad is the last prophet.
there is no prophet after prophet muhammad.
should there be someone who performs something supernatural and claims he is a messenger of god after prophet muhammad's time is a devil who tries to make us lose hold of our beliefs.

People still have free will.
If God to physically appear to every person in the world to confirm his existance there would still be a large number of people who would simply choose not to worship him.

because just like now, people had the choice to believe or not & some chose not to, that's the freedom that God gives us, but we will be accountable for what we believed
or did not believe when the end comes.
