beach but 1 block fromthe beach any suggestions

I lived in Norfolk for a few years and worked in VA Beach. It is a military town, so you have a lot of military type people there, as well as a mix of really trashy southern type rednecks, and nice average family folks as well. The VA Beach Strip is no where to be at night if you have kids, but if your a party person, it's right up your alley. There are not a lot of homes right on the beach, but if you find one, you will pay a premium for it. And the neighborhoods a few blocks from the beach are not all that desireable. A little further south, in the Outer Banks is a little more quiet, and very picturesque, you may want to consider there as well.
