I saw a question like this but the guy was married, I am not. Fairly good looking, in good shape and friendly. Here is the question...
Is it right or wrong ?
I am a 30ish man, professional, athletic, fun loving, with spare during the weekdays.
My question to all of you 30-50 year old women out there is; Would you be offended if I came up to you in a department or grocery store and complemented you, on your looks, figure, clothing, whatever, is this offensive ? Would asking you out for a lunch date be too foward, or just freaky.

hmmm... tough question...most women don't expect to be asked out by a stranger while shopping... perhaps you could go as far as eye contact a smile and a hello... but any further might spook a lot of women ... especially in this day and age...nothing to do with you personally... but any woman has to be cautious / careful... the only way I can see it possibly working... is if you strike up a neutral conversation about the store... or the crowd ... etc... and after talking a bit express your interest in perhaps getting to know the woman better , but offer your phone number , that way she would feel more comfortable, and the move would be up to her... then if she calls perhaps you can talk on the phone a few times prior to an actual date... and you will both feel more comfortable to go on a date...

hmmm, I think it depends on how you do it. And the look in your eyes.... You'd have to be sinere.....

If you complimented my figure I would probably think you were just looking for sex and I would write you off straight away. If you complimented me on my looks.... It would have to be my hair or my eyes or my smile or something like that.... clothing.... hmmm, I wouldn't be offended, but I actually think you would make it harder on yourself.... most women shot down as soon as you go there because they are used to men having a hidden agenda....

Can I suggest you just say hi and smile.... flirt a little with your eyes and see how she responds. Pick up a conversation about something in the store (whatever you are standing near by or better yet pretend you can't find something). If she is open then you can ask her out for lunch.....

good luck. :-)

Depends on how you do it and also on how you look. Like, if you're a professional looking man as you say you are and if you're goodlooking as you say you are then I think most women would probably be flattered. However, if you're not so attractive and if you look bummish, they may think youre some desperate freak trying to get a date.
