About a year ago, I went for my yearly checkup, and they said since it has been so long since I had a tetanus shot, I should get one. Well I did, and a week later my arm was still hurting and swelled up, so I called the doctors office, and they said to come right in. They checked my arm, and told me never to get another one because I had a bad allergic reaction to it! I have had them before in my life, but never had a bad reaction. They say every 7 years your body changes, and sometimes has different reactions to drugs and shots and even different types of allergens in the air. If your arm is sore more than a few days, call your doctor just to play it safe!

The more you work it, the less it will hurt. Tetanus shots are given into muscle, which makes them hurt. But if you were to apply an ice pack and then work the arm, the time it hurts should get shorter.

Next time you get a shot, massage the area where the shot is given. This is because most shots are given to the muscles (IM). For now, if it is swollen and painful, take over-the-counter pain meds and ice the area. If this persists, go see a doctor.

It may last 1-2 more days... just work it gently... move it around in circles... take some ibuprofen, and if needed, put a warm compress on it-that should help relax the muscle. Or, you can put a cold compress on it to hlep with the swelling.

this will hurt for about 3 to 4 days depending on how your body works....one thing that helps is to rub where the shot is ...it will help loosen the muscles and help with the pain also helps speed the tenderness up so it will not last as long and you can start being as active with that arm as normal...hope this helped....good luck...

It should start feeling better as the day goes on. It may burn a bit still, but if it's not conciderably better by tomarrow, go to the ER.

Tetanus shots will do that.

I got that shot about two weeks ago and it was sore for about another week. The slight pain and swelling only lasted about three days.

That would be tetanus, they can be sore for a couple of days. If it persists any longer, you could be having some form of allergic reaction, call your health provider,,:-)=
