Most DVD players are set to a certain Region for piracy prevention..but it canbe "fixed" I forgot the web site and Im away from home..but do a web search for removing region codes from your dvd player. On my Bose Lifestyle 38 it was just a matter of pushing some buttons on the remote in a certain order. Think JVC was similar. The website was a .uk website and had instructions for just about every DVD player out there.

The only way I know is to copy and burn the DVD onto DVDR without a Region specified. Though it is duplicating your movie, at least you can play it. You need the softwares: 'DVD Region Free,' and 'DVD Shrink.' I found these online for free (try download.com). DVD Region Free will allow your PC to play any region DVD, whilst DVD Shrink will allow you to create a backup copy of the DVD. Make sure to check the 'no region' checkbox, and you should be fine.

Every DVD has a country code and all the DVD players have a code too and it only works when both codes are the same...but you can buy a multiple-code dvd player, then it will play all the dvds

Unfortunately I don't think you can. For copyright reasons, I believe, DVDs are coded by region. The US is part of Region 1. I believe the UK is part of Region 2. the DVDs will NOT play in other players because they are designed not to.
In future, look for Region 0 DVDs, which I believe are playable in all regions.

have it copied (by you or a friend but not by a professional- it's prohibited) but use region I setting (default setting in US dvd burning optical device).
the jvc player is fixed in reading region I only. the other dvd disc was recorded with an ALL region code (but not a guarantee it does work with all the dvd players).
remember many/almost all states prohibit copying except for personal use only. check with the local code first.
if there's a will, there's a way!
hope you get what i mean

a video_ts file is just all the decoded files from a dvd. it's kind of like a disc image except it's unusable until you burn it to dvd. burning software like nero, roxio, or toast have settings to deal specifically with video_ts files. all the files from a dvd should be in one folder titled 'video_ts'. just set your burning software to video_ts and drag the folder into the program window and you'll be off. read the direction for whichever program you buy/download. there should be a section on how to make and/or use video_ts files.
