Where is the memorial service? I am asking this because of the weather.
Normally, I would suggest nice pants and a shirt. Something like he would wear to worship services or to school.
If it is cooler where the service is, maybe a sweater (like a pull over)
Does he have a sports coat? He can wear that. But, little boys take those off quickly when they get too hot!

I would first like to say that I am sorry to hear about your loss.
Now, to answer your question. If your finances prohibit the purchase of suit that your son will quickly outgrow, go with dress pants, a collared shirt, and a tie. Often these items can be purchased at a second hand store for next to nothing. In the area where I live (Chicago area), name brand pants, shirt a tie could be purchased for about $6.00 to $8.00 dollars from a second had shop and they would be in like new condition.
It is important for children to learn that certain situations are formal and semi-formal and that there is an appropirate way to dress and act.

He's 7. Let him be comfortable. If that means jeans and a tee so be it. I hope someone has explained to him what will happen at a memorial service so he will not be upset while he is there most important if he was close to his grandmother. So sorry for your loss.

Honestly, a memorial service is not a fashion show...I have been to plenty of funerals...trust me no one is analysing attire....he can wear whatever...does he have an outfit that his grandmother gave him...or an outfit that was her favorite. Think in terms of what she would like to see him in. I think that is what is really appropriate. Or ask him what he wants to wear...kids are very intuitive.

I would suggest a nice pair of navy blue or black dress pants. Perhaps a light blue or white dress shirt and alittle tie clip on. Dress shoes. So sorry for your loss.

I would say khaki's and a polo shirt or black dress pants with a polo shirt. Try to keep the shirt white or off white so as not to stand out too much.

Don't dress him up too much. You don't want him to remember the day as a time when he felt really embarrassed. Definitely not jeans but if it is warm smart trousers and a smart shirt with a tie if you want sounds fine.

Does he have a pair of dressy pants and a nice shirt? It shouldn't be about what you wear anyway. I would be more impressed by his behavior than what he is wearing!
