I'm not a physician, however I suffer from an anxiety disorder and have tried many of these so-called 'benzodiazepine' drugs. My best luck WAS with Klonopin in controlling anxiety. You imply that you are only taking one .5mg tablet per day? That is not enough to work very well unless you are very small. Dose is calculated by body weight. However it is safe practice for a physician to start you on a low dose and work up to a point where you gain maximum benefit. I hope you and your physician have good communication, since your physician should be notified if you don't see much improvement in a week. Again, this is a VERY low dose--but PLEASE don't increase the dose unless your doctor OKs it. OK? Klonopin would be my choice, so you doctor must understand what treatments work best for anxiety.

You might want to ask to try a newer drug called Lyrica. I am taking this now and the anxiety relief is better than anything I've tried to date. I sleep better and worry much less now.

God bless--hope you begin feeling better soon.

Klonopin is not a therapeutic drug like anti-depressants that take a few weeks to get into your system. Klonopin should start taking effect in about an hour. It also wears off over time, usually after 3 to 6 hours. I liken it to Xanax.

If should been in full effect after a week, but you may want to ask for something else .Klonopin is often used as a seizure medication. I'd ask for xannax

My mother noticed it working after her first klonopin.

I am not a doctor or nurse, but maybe they didn't give you a strong enough dosage if you have only seen slight improvement.

I am sorry about your anxiety. I hope things get better for you.

Give it about a week. They don't want to give you too much and have you just be knocked out all the time. If you tolerate the .5mg without being in a coma, talk to your doctor about any further symptoms you may still have.
