Sure it is possible. But will it ever be feasible?

The technology already exists to do this with trains and there is an 18 mile section of track that takes people to the Shanghai airport in China at top speed of 268 mph. See article below.

Tremendous engineering problems with that one! You'd have to have magnets under all the highways! You'd have to supply electric power to run all those magnets, or to make them in the first place! Aren't we already burning enough oil to make electricity to use in our homes, let alone on the highway?

Did you read the article about the bed closely? It doesn't go anywhere; it isn't like a children's fable about a bed that grew legs and started walking at night with the kids in it! It's tethered down in place with steel cables for safety, so that the bed doesn't get too far from above the magnets on the floor, and it would slide off the magnetic field and fall down! And, what if you had a pacemaker, or metal implants like a hip replacement or something? What are the long term health effects of being exposed to such a high intensity magnetic field for eight hours a night? I sure wouldn't want to be the guinea pig that is used to test it! Let some rich guy with more money than brains do that. We'll learn from his mistake.

When I sit in traffic I ponder the same all the time. I think it could be a much more efficient form of travel and could be a definite future alternative to the antiquated system of roads that cost way too much money in developement and upkeep. They would be safer, faster, and eliminate most traffic problems.
