Makes you wonder just how relevant the theory of evolution truly is doesn't it? If evolution is a valid theory, why didn't other species evolve to this level as well?
I believe that another reason is curiosity. Yes, other animals are curious, but man seeks to become better than itself and will seek out ways to do this. I believe that no other species has a goal of improving themselves above their currrent station in life.

There are various levels, take chimpanzees for instance. They are fairly close to mankind in development - much closer than any other animal. A gradation could be found when comparing them with us and with cats, for example. Cat -> chimp -> human (in terms of intelligence). Some species had to emerge as the most advanced, it just happened to have been us.

There would be such a gradation as you say if our ancestors hadn't killed the competitors. Apparently they didn't feel threatened by the ancestors of the chimps, which are now the closest relatives our species has. But even they may go extinct by loss of habitat and by poachers.

I think the premise of your question is flawed. We know that dolphins, apes and pigs all have graduated levels of intelligence as we understand it. But there's the key phrase - as we understand it. We measure intelligence based on responses to stimuli that seem logical to us. But creatures evolve in response to the stimuli and challenges of their environment. Did we just evolve "intelligence" one day? No - we evolved to meet mostly specific challenges - coming out of the water, lungs were handier than gills. Coming, a whole heck of a lot later, down from the trees, a straighter spine and hip arrangement, and less of a tail, were helpful. Communication came from the improved food-finding and tribal dynamic that it brought, probably still while we were in trees (This, it is arguable, takes place in our cousins within the ape family to this day), intelligence as we understand it - pattern recognition, tool use, learning from errors etc - all evolved from encountering specific challenges.
This being so, it's flawed to assume that simply because they don't do the same things we do that they're less intelligent than we are. The Arctic Wright Whale, for instance, emits a sound that can be heard underwater for several miles. Can we do that? No. Why? Because it hasn't been necessary for some time for us to to attract a mate from several miles away, so we haven't evolved that skill. The Arctic Wright Whale is a beautiful creature that relies on its ability to exchange mating calls over significant distances in order to survive. Does "knowing" that make it intelligent? Not by our standards, maybe, but within its own environment it's a pretty neat trick if you don't want to go extinct. The measure of an animal's intelligence is not the measure of mankind's achievements, but the measure of its own survival.

You are right... and the theory of evolution is wrong!
Man is superior to the animals because that is God's creative order
Only man has the ability to reason, speak, have intimate relatioships, etc..because that is how God created things.
Relax... you don't have to condescend to have an ape ancestor. Because it isn't true.
Macro-evolution is a flawed theory at best. You need a shovel to read some the pro-evolution stuff above, don't you?

The dominion gap in evolutionary theory.
Not e apes are much stronger than we are but they are not dominating men.
As far as apes anscestry it is possible that some have decscended from apes ,perhaps Darwin fell in that category.
It is very questionalble that the female species is really the dominating factor.
So perhaps Evolution was a crack pot theory after all.

Man was given superiority by Jehova God when he was created. The only evolution on this earth that has ever happened is the result of the will of the creator. Evolution is a deception as it is taught today. Satan is the great deceiver as described in the holy scriptures.

There have been several other species in the genus homo that have had high levels of intelligence. They are all now extinct. Most of them were in direct competition with us and so we killed them off.

You just answered your own question, since there is "not" the evolution among the species as you've pointed out - the theory of evolution does not prove true.
Genesis tells us best, at Genesis 1:26-28:
26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth." 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth."

What makes you assume humans are superior to other animals?
Did it ever occur to you that what humans consider "intelligence" is really stupidity?
Do you see any other animals routinely kill for sport or pleasure?
Do you see any other animals destroying their own environment and ability to survive solely to satisfy their greed and quest for pleasure or entertainment?
Do you see any other animals killing each other due to differences in politics or religion?
Obviously, you have not given the matter careful consideration.
