so far the answers have been pretty "spot" on. No it does not taste like fish, but Superman said it right,,,to quote Ralph Wiggum, " It tastes like burning"

I can only compare it to model airplane fuel. It has quite a kick and should not be sipped, just shot down the throat as fast as possible.

For someone who has had th pleasure of tasting the finest on earth, go out and buy a micky sized, make sure its gold tequilla, and dont bother paying for the ones with the worm. They're not worth it.

Do it quick though before there is another world wide shortage. Tequilla grows in 7 year crops, and the next 7 year mark is soon aproaching. Soon you will have to drink Silver Teqilla because of the cost for the gold. And silver doesnt have the same taste to it.

Yes, have been told that "Tequila" has a slightly fishy taste and aroma, which may explain the line at the "Tequila" buffet, quite a spread, wouldn't you say?" :) New item just added "Tequilla Red" aged 48 years. Smooth and experienced on the palate. Nice bottle too, not at all square like brand X, more round and shapely, with new top. Designed for easy removal with just the right cork screw.

Oh, I get it, I've been baited, by a master baiter no less, good one. The Penguin rules!!!!

If you try Jose Cuervo, it pretty much tastes like someone washed their gym socks in a bowl of water and then you drank it.

There are good tequilas out there though. Cuervo Tradicional, Herradura, and Cazadores are all readily available and not that expensive.

Yes, Padron is good, but I don't think it's worth the money. Especially for those morons that make a margarita out of it. Why do you pay $12 for a shot of it at a bar and then blend it with lime juice and $.10 worth of Triple Sec?

why dont you try it?...I dont care what anyone tells you...it doesnt tast GOOD, it will give you a good feeling ( till the next morning ) but it also depends on the quality of the tequila. A lot of people think Jose Quarvo is a Great Tequila..but its not..they just advertize more then anyone else.

Then try it yourself.

Tequila is a strong distilled alcoholic beverage made primarily in the area surrounding Tequila, a town in the western Mexican state of Jalisco, 50 km from Guadalajara.

It comes from a plant called "agave".

51% is made of that plant; and the rest is made of maize and sugarcanes.

They use syrup, alcohol, some lime i believe and just freshly label it MADE IN MEXICO

It tastes like tequila. I definately wouldn't call it fishy and it's not sweet like whiskey, it really does have a rather unique flavor. It's probably not for everyone but it was my favorite if I was drinking shots.

It has an oily, mineral spirits sort of taste, to be expected from something made from a cactus. Goes well with sugared lime juice and salt.

That really depends on the type and quality. Some are very smooth, others, like Cuervo, taste like acid after your GI tract has been sandpapered.
