So, when I take my dogs to PetSmart to get nails trimmed - should I tip the person?

George, I appreciate your concern, but if their nails are not trimmed, it can cause their toes to painfully splay when the walk, causing them to walk differently and may even lead to lameness - my question was should I tip the person who trims their nails - not should their nails be trimmed.
Also, this is not a free service - Petsmart charges somewhere around $10 per pet.

Do not ever attempt to trim or shorten nails or tails of an animal. God has create every single part on us and them for a purpose.Only when it proves dangerous on the animal to keep his nails. Never the tail.
Only a decent vet.

I would NOT. They actually have a policy they are NOT suppose to take in tips. Would you tip the guy that got you a goldfish out of the tank? It is there job. Would you tip the Vet if he trimmed your dogs nails?

I wouldn't trust the people at petsmart or petco, they use clippers. Go somewhere that uses a dremmel (aka grinder). It makes the nails more rounded and short without hitting the quick. Plus the people that work at petsmart/petco have very little training.

Yes. I usually give them a dollar. Except when they do all five of mine for free then I get whoever a 25 $ gift card.

If they do a good job you should. If they don't do a good job though, thank them. They are doing this for free you know! Just think, what if someone did a horrible job on a manicure for you.....for free? What would you do?
