First they aren't called PLIERS! They are called Forceps... and there are so many different kinds of forceps for each and every tooth.

Forceps are specially designed for taking out a tooth on the bottom or top, left or right side, and then have different heads to pull out different teeth.

Every different type of tooth has a different root structure, there are even different forceps that structurally grab the crown and slide into the root/roots and pull it out.

Plus, teeth are held in place by ligaments and fibers, if these aren't broken before taking the tooth out, part of the root might not come out, resulting in even more invasive techniques.

The only other technology it seems that could put to shame this one would be magic (poof, the tooth be gone)... but sorry that will never happen!

In this modern day and age, the only way to pull a nail out of a piece of wood is with a claw hammer or a crawbar.
