Just buy her the clothes that she likes. Go to Target, Children's Place, other clothing place for kids and show her the "girls section" of the store and tell her to pick the clothes that she likes to see herself wear to school. It's best this way because most little princesses want to look pretty like Barbie (if they still admire her) or Cinderella. This should be a fun adventure for the both of you. This will also make her very happy and excited to go to school each day knowing that she picked out the clothing of her choice.

My daughter and I have totally different styles. So whenever we go shopping, I tell her how much money she has to spend on clothes. She picks out what she likes. However, I usually what she spends on clothes is lower than what I actually plan to spend on clothes. That way if she picks out a pair of pants without a shirt to match, I can still get it. She gets clothes that she likes to wear and I stay within budget.

Please, dress her like a six year old. In my thinking, that's jeans, t-shirt and gym shoes or a top and skirt. I'm so tired of seeing these little girls who are dressing like teens. My friend calls them "prostitots."
If she's an active kid or one who isn't afraid to get messy in art class, you really can't go wrong with t-shirts and jeans. My daughter was a little prissy girl so she wore cute dresses and girly pink/lavendar colors. Even when she had on jeans, they had to have some lace or sparkles on the pockets. Makes me wish her school had uniforms!!
It's important to let your daughter help pick out the clothes though. That way you avoid the "I don't wanna wear that" fight in the mornings.

Try to buy stuff that will mix and match. Let her help pick them out. It will give her a chance to develop her own style. It can be a fun girls shopping trip. My three year old is very picky about what she will wear so buying something she does not like is a waste of time, but I like that she knows what she likes.

I'm guessing she doesn't wear a uniform or that would be too easy, I would go to Target, Kohls or The Children's Place and pick up some jeans, tops, maybe a skirt or two. Nothing to fancy or expensive the kiddies tend to get dirty at school!

I would take her to Target since she will constantly keep growing out of her clothes. Take her with you and see what she likes. Let her help choose the clothes she will feel most comfortable in. Make sure you set guidelines as you go. No Sweats for school. :)

Clothes that fit would be best. They have a lot of (in my opinion) slutty clothes now for small children that I wouldn't buy for a 6 year old.
But other than that, take her & see what she likes.
Jeans are always a good buy, & shirts & skirts that she likes.
Boys are MUCH easier...jeans, jean shorts, & T-shirts!

There's a lot of pretty nice dresses for little girl. A sleeveless dress, knee lenght is good for summer to pair it with a cute sandal. Or a nice fashioned skirt pair wih a cute blouse. The color should be light, pinkies or yellowish anything that is light.

Jeans / short pants / - for she will be riding her bycycle soon.
Frilly frock - girls at this age like to dress up like a lady at parties, but ask her for her opinion first. My younger one wasn't that type.
Pick stuff that's ' IN ' and accessories too.
