Well why not get a waiter or maid? The only thing bad they can do is quit. Homosexuality is a sin plain and simple. No one cares though.

I would like to see one of these questions in context that you are speaking of. Slavery is slavery period, as well as homosexuality. . Let's look at the definition(s) of slavery.
Main Entry: slav·ery
Pronunciation: 'slA-v(&-)rE
Function: noun
1 : DRUDGERY, TOIL
2 : submission to a dominating influence
3 a : the state of a person who is a chattel of another b : the practice of slaveholding
In regards to homosexuality, the definition(s).
Main Entry: ho·mo·sex·u·al·i·ty
Pronunciation: "hO-m&-"sek-sh&-'wa-l&-tE
Function: noun
1 : the quality or state of being homosexual
2 : erotic activity with another of the same sex
So, no, they have not changed since biblical times. I understand what you're trying to say, how the bible is wrong or peoples interpretation of the bible is incorrect. Sorry, the bible is what it is. The inspired word of God, regardless of the translation, version, or context. As far as "they", people are all different and have their own opinions, ideas, understanding, and agendas. I myself never assume anything. If I want the facts, not someones rhetoric, I do research. I suggest you do the same and stop supposing and "reasonably assuming".

Slavery is slavery, homosexuality is homosexuality. There is no need to "broaden" or "redefine" our thoughts or stance on the two. They are both wrong in God's eyes and yes, they are to be viewed in a historical, spiritual and literal context. Without appropriate interpretation and understanding of the Scriptures, we'll never begin to understand why some things were necessary in the OT, then annulled in the NT and etc. Anyone attempting to defend a specific viewpoint without fully understanding what they're reading is amking the same mistake so many others have made in taking what they DO understand, SEPERATING it from the rest of the Bible, and allegorizing the rest, creating man's biggest problem in understanding God....religion. Religion is MAN'S view of God in which we cannot possibly begin to interpret what He's trying to tell us. We can't read about slavery and homosexuality and try to reason within ourselves that God only meant for it to apply to the people in the Bible era and etc. We have to look around and see that the actions that constitute these things are still considered to be an aberation to God and are just as wrong today as they were then. God freed us from slavery; He can free homosexuals from their immoralities. Ours is not to "reason away" or divert from the text. The Scripture says, "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord". The aforementioned text is a prime example of interpretation because Job was stating that though God allowed Satan to take away his family, his riches and etc., that He was still God and he (Job) was grateful for what God had given him. I used it to say that only God can tell us what is right and wrong; we only have to have faith in His guidance and trust in Him. Sorry for rambling. I still hope it helps some.

The slavery in the Bible was not based on race. People were not enslaved because of their nationality or the color of their skin. In Bible times, slavery was more of a social status. People sold themselves as slaves when they could not pay their debts or provide for their family. In New Testament times, sometimes doctors, lawyers, even politicians were slaves of someone else for one reason or another. Some people actually chose to be slaves so as to have all their needs provided for by their master.
Now,
The slavery of the 1700’s and 1800’s was based on skin color. Black people were considered slaves because of their nationality – most slave owners truly believed black people to be “inferior human beings” to white people. This is similar to the slavery the Jews experienced when they were in Egypt. The Jews were slaves, not by choice, but because they were Jews (Exodus 13:14). The plagues God poured out on Egypt demonstrate how God feels about racial slavery (Exodus 7-11). So, yes, the Bible does condone slavery. However, the slavery the Bible allowed for in no way resembled the racial slavery that plagued our world in the past few centuries.
I hope this answers your questions. If not, feel free to e-mail me and I will explain further. Have a great day! :)

Many of us are slaves today...It is different because it's economic slavery...the balance between rich-middle-poor is just as much a form of slavery as being bound by a master. We are bound by our financial obligations and by limits in our ability to increase our worths to the point where we no longer have to work for a living. Supposedly in our free society (America) we can be upwardly mobile...yet when one looks the reality is far from the truth. Only a very small minority ever become sufficiently able to stop working for a living. Unfortunately, we're all exploited to some degree so it's a question more of how much you or I are exploited vs being slaves. At any rate at least we're sufficiently free to question this stuff.
So far as homosexuality goes...my stance is the overriding principle of most religions is supposedly love and it shouldn't matter weather its between two men, two women, or man and woman...LOVE is the underlying principle and if homosexuality is sinful than LOVE must therefore be sinful. Not only that I really don't care what two consenting adults do in the privacy of their homes (so long as there's no abuse). PEACE!

They're flat wrong Jim. Biblical slavery was very much like slavery in America. The Bible itself spells out that nothing is to be done to a master who beats a slave, that a slave has no rights not even to their own children, that a master who beats a slave severely, but the slave lives at least 1 day before dying, is not to be held accountable, and it goes on and on.
Lies...all lies.

Read Romans chapter 1 in The Holy Bible to find out about homosexuality. The word of God is eternal. It never changes.

I know that the old testament prescribes death for homosexuals. I'm against homosexuality myself, but death is harsh. Prison and psychological help are better choices. I'm a Muslim and The Noble Qur'an talks about homosexuality in Lut's story with his people:
Al-A'raf 7:80-83
(80) "We also (sent) Lut: he said to his people: "Do ye commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you?
[81] "For ye practise your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds."
[82] And his people gave no answer but this: they said, "Drive them out of your city: these are indeed men who want to be clean and pure!"
[83] But We saved him and his family, except his wife: she was of those who lagged behind. "

I do not seem to see any question here. The writer seems to be expressing an opinion, or just making a statement. I am very interested in answering the real question in here, but it must be clarified
