I intend on starting to take a yoga class next week. I don't know hardly anything about it so I want to find out a bit before I begin.

How does yoga benefit the mind and body? What are your experiences with yoga and how has it benefited you?

There are so many different kinds, but I'll speak in general, because I'm not an expert anyway.

I personally find that after my yoga routine, I'm very relaxed. So that's one benefit.

It aids in flexibility. I'll probably never be able to do the splits or get my foot behind my head - but if I stick with it, when I'm an old lady and slip on a banana, I probably won't break a hip!

It also builds strength. There are some poses that look so simple, but you need strength to hold them.

I think it benefits the mind and body. I feel more relaxed after yoga/during yoga. Also, it increases flexibility.

The stretching and strengthening of the core muscle has alleviated all of my lower back pain. I have been doing yoga along with aerobic exercise since Jan. and have lost 50 lbs.

I do not have any experience with yoga, but I believe that it will heal the soul.

I work out in the gym.
