Israel - Women and men have to go in to the army at 18. Men serve three years, women two. Then they are in the reserves for 10 years.

In Israel, men do National Service for three years and women do National Service for two years :-)
I should expect it's the same, or similar, story in other countries that currently have or used to have National Service and also have equal rights for women. The same should also be with countries that don't have National Service.
Of course, there are many roles in a military organisation from actual fighting to logistics to medical & vetinary positions and mechanics and engineers. The male/female ratio in each of these roles will depend on the individual policy of each military organisation.

Yes, many countries require a length of national service. We here in the United States offer our young people gangs, unemployment, drugs, homelessness....those kind of "social" activities. Any wonder why the country has so many issues to deal with. Any wonder why people like Bush can get (s)elected?

Yes.North Korea has one of the largest armies in the world primarily because they are a military based nation,which means everyone must serve even in combat-arms.
