Get off the Internet, out of the house, and among real people. Volunteer, go to church (those church ladies love to make matches), go to public functions such as political events - forums where you don't have to be of an affiliation, but you will meet people.
No matter what the commercials say, your luck of finding someone on the 'net is not good. Get out and live.

I spent the money on eharmony. It is more expensive than other sites, but they are also more strict on their matching guidelines. That may be an option, since I don't know what site you used before. Also some churches have singles groups and if you have coffee houses in your area, that is another good place. I have been in the same boat as you and it seems like there is no place to meet anyone if you don't go to bars. I like eharmony because of the long process you have to go through. Usually you know if it is not going to work out well before you get to openly communicate.
Good luck. Hope it all works out for you!

I'm 50, and just over three years ago online I met an amazing woman who became my wife just a few months later (she was 30 and I was 47 at the time).
So you really shouldn't blame the online dating concept. It will be interesting in 20 years when academics start doing studies of marriages of those who met online and those who met otherwise.
That said, make a list of the top 10 things that interest you and would also be likely to interest women. Then look for organizations in your local area to join.
If you're into politics or religion, this would be a time to get heavily involved.
