Okay, you dont mention what color brown you are, (dark , medium or light) but if your going to go blonde, i would definately go to a good professional. i moved from NY to Florida and went to a get a root touch up and the place i went to took 3 visits to get my hair back to normal. ( i had to finally dye my hair to my natural brown color , it was a horror)
depending on the brown that you are, you have to watch. if you have red in your hair, i would use a color with Ash in it to cut out the red. If you are going really blonde, like i used to, make sure you condition it everyday. that's such a radical change and your hair takes a beating, but with todays products out there, you can do it safely.
I would just say be careful, choose your stylist very carefully. just because they have a license doesn't mean they are great at coloring. . (now please, no hate mail, i was born with Pale white skin and dark brown hair and have been dying my hair all different shades of blonde and red for 20 years and have had my share of horror stories. )
I believe coloring hair is an art that takes knowledge. Take care of your hair, use cruelty free products (no animal testing) and enjoy the blonde experiance.
Good luck

Are you having your hair professionally colored? If you are doing it yourself the best thing to do is use a deep conditioner after you color & regularly so your hair doesn't dry out as much. Also, blond hair tends to turn brassy/dull after a while, so using something like Clairol Shimmer Lights a couple times a week will take out the brassiness & help maintain the color.

Why do you want to go blond. Everyone i know wants to go brown or is brown. Its great but making you a blond isn't the smartest thing. I think you should do it when blond is back in style.

It will take some getting used to...I am a bottle blonde, it's a shock to see yourself in a totally different hair color...

Use a good Shampoo and Conditioner...like Biolage...Redken..Paul Mitchell.

I'd suggest just getting heavy highlights so the roots won't look so drastic when they start growing back in. Also, get purple shampoo (Jhirmack) to offset any brassiness after you do.

why do you want to get blond ? getting golden or platinum highlights is cheap & not good for your hair. brown or red colours are good , decent, classy & good to your hair.
