A good question. It used to be if you we executed then you would be buried on unconsecrated ground e.g. In the prison. These days I imagine your body would be released to any surviving relatives or if there are none the local authority would bury you in a paupers grave according to your religion.

You have asked a very interesting question here which we shall try and answer.

'Prison for life' ("Life Imprisonment") means exactly that. Prison for the rest of your life..whilst you are alive.

Once you have 'passed away' then you are not alive and your body would be released to your family/next of kin for your funeral and subsequent burial/cremation.

You will not and cannot be buried inside the prison grounds.

No, the body is given to the family for burial, unless the family doesn't want it, the body will be buried in the cheapest cemetery with no head stone, just a marker that could over time be removed by the elements.

No, but with some persons the government will normally arrange for cremation rather than have a shrine develop - such as Harold Shipman, Myra Hindley and all - both of whom were cremated.

Wiki does say that the crematorium that processed Hindley insisted on anonymity.

No, your family can claim a prisoner's body if they choose to. Prisoners buried in the prison guards had no one claim their bodies.

No, seeing as a dead person can't harm anyone in the outside world. The body would be released to the family of the criminal and they'd bury it wherever they choose.

No, your body is released to your family if they claim it and are willing to accept financial responsibility for the final expenses.

"Life without possibility of parole" means just that. That person won't ever be reviewed for parole whereas "Life" means that that is the maximum sentence to be served and parole will be considered ( not likely but, considered ) after a portion of the sentence has been served.

No they can release your body to your family. If I was in prison for life with no parole, I wouldn't want to live anyway.

No. The prison will turn your remains over to your family.
