...... it's the quotes in the bible that is the topic of controversy?
Isn't it the teachings of the bible thats is being 'bashed', yet you quote the very same thing to answer.
It's like 'how do you know the bible is true, because my bible says so'. Wow, brainstorming.

They have nothing else to answer with so they go with what they have, even if it is nonsense. They only have one bullet in the chamber

Let's say that I make a comment similar to yours: "I think that all history books are just made up." If that's my position, then how would you answer questions like these?

- How do you know the American Revolution really happened?

- How do you know the Civil War really happened?

- How do you know that George Washington ever existed?

If you answer that these things are found in history books, then you're presenting those books as the authority that I have already said I reject.

Christians believe in the historical accuracy of their "textbook." Much of that history is supported by other, non-biblical, historical accounts.

As for your questions about the quotes in the bible being the topic[s] of controversy, or "teachings...that [are] being 'bashed'," you'll have to be more specific about which topics or teachings you are bothered by.

Christians quote the Bibe because that is our authority. If you ask a Muslim why he believes such-and-such or does such-and-such, would you be surprised at him quoting the Koran? If you ask an atheist, he's going to quote Darwin or Dawkins before long.

We can't know the Bible is true simply because the Bible says that it is true; of course that in and of itself isn't enough. But isn't it necessary? The Book of Mormon claims that it isn't inspired, that these people wrote down the information as best as they could remember it; that's more than enough reason right there not to make it the cornerstone of a religion.

We know the Bible is true because it is without contradiction, either with itself, with science, or with history.

It's not merely that "my Bible says so", but it's the FAITH in what I read in the Word, plus the things I see come to pass in my life that lead me to believe the truth behind the Word of God. Anyone can read the Bible with a carnal mind and not see the possibility of these things coming to pass, but with a spiritual understanding of the Word, one beins to see not just by reading the Word, but by observing the world around them.

You'd have to know the truth to understand. I'd ask the same questions everyone does. Why do you believe in God, how do know the Bible's real, how do you know God is real? Last year I came to have my questions answered on a personal level.

If you don't want to know what the bible says, go back to the porn site you visited earlier. I am going to continue to inform people of what is in the bible regardless.
