My mom and her bf had a BAD argument two days ago. Dishes were broke,Screaming, violently slammed doors,Loud thumps. But now everytime I hear the faintest noise that sounds like it I hug my knees and a chill goes up my spine. I hear the whole thing play in my head again. I haven't slept for 2 days. Im not sure because this has never happened before. It reminds me of the time her bf attacked her. Im not sure what happened but it sounded violent. I know it was arguing and it was pretty bad if my mom wants me to go to my gmas for a week. Please tell me what you think it might be. The playback, the fear of the sounds,Hearing it all over again. Its weird.

I am so sorry that you had to go through that. It sounds to me as though you might be suffering from PTSD. Apparently, you have been a little traumatized over it. Sometimes, I just wish that parents who are supposedly the adults here would not argue in front of their children. Sometimes, I don't think that "they" think of how it might affect the children when they do that....not to mention how it makes the child feel inside and out.

Sorry....sweetie....hang in there.

Sounds like what you are describing is called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Sometimes when you experience a very stressful situation your body, including your mind, stores your reaction. When you experience stress again your body recalls the previous response and reacts in the same way again including "flashbacks" to the original incident. While medication can help with the symptoms therapy is recommended to resolve the original and continuing causes of the stress.

Your mom and BF should also seek counseling to work out those anger issues.

next time that happens, call the cops on your mothers boyfriend. You dooooo have post tramatic stress syndrome but at the same time, help out your mom. Why is it people report fires but not people being abused? geez. Talk to your MOM about it and maybe she'll get it threw her head, more then one person is getting hurt too. WHAT IS WRONG W/ THIS WORLD???
