I've lost a significant amount of weight about 80 pounds and kept it off for over 2 years. And I find keeping my weight in check is easy if I follow a few habits regularly.
1. I weigh myself every week. That way if I'm up a pound or two. I can take it off right away instead of gaining 5 or 10 and then having to go back on a diet for a month.
2. I make sure that I do a half hour to an hour of physical activity or exercise every day.
3. Portion control. Even if I want to eat some sweets or something that's high in calories, I will. But I'll eat the recommended serving size. For example I'll eat 2 Oreos and not a whole row or half a bag. That way I get to treat myself, I don't feel guilty and I'm keeping my calories in check.
4. If I know that a special event or dinner is coming up, I'll be really good with my diet for the week, so that when the special event comes up I can go and drink and eat whatever I want in moderation without worry about weight gain.

By thinking about it all the time arent you making it hard work? Just remember no magazine diet is going to make you healthier, as every kind of food has something good in it. If you are really worried you should try the idea of eating a portion of your meal then leaving 30 minutes for it to get to your stomach, then you can decide if youre still hungry.
Remember you really already look great

i know! it's too tempting to just veg out and stuff your face with crisps and chocolate lol
I think the best way is to do something active every day, whether it be going for a jog, a swim, a walk (even just round the shops!) and by not eating too much stuff. I just eat what I want but try not to over do it - life's too short for that calorie counting carryon

Hunting and gathering your food is the natural solution. As a modern alternative to avoid confrontation with local council bylaws, I'd suggest walking to the shops and never buying more than you can carry home.
For junk food, walk to the shops in another town.

It's not hard work. You need to change your lifestyle and then it becomes just part of regular daily living.
