Have you recently moved to Canada? If so, did the immigration process take longer or shorter than the predicted waiting times from your Embassy?

It can take anywhere from 6 months to 16months, and that is just a generalization for all applications. Do your homework, get everything you need for your application. Ask all the questions you can prior to submitting your papers. The more questions you ask during the processing, the more it will slow things down.

Be patient, if you want to come here patience is a must. This process is not quick, once you are here and have your permanent residence you must maintain a residence in Canada for a minmum of 3 years up to 4 years to gain Canadian Citizenship. Every day you are away from Canada doesn't count.

They say 6-12 months. I applied in May 2004 and it took just over 9 months to get my visa for full residency. Stick with it, but be careful about how much you contact them. Every time you send them a letter, it can slow the process my anything up to month!

I would say leave it a full 12 months before chasing it
