Hizbollah kidnapped two Israeli soldiers and wouldn't give them back, so, the bombing started and it has been tit-for-tat since then.

People are saying the recent crisis started after Hezbollah kidnapped 2 Israeli soldiers. You are partly correct, ever since Israel left the West Bank last Summer there have been skirmishes on the border and this was the straw that broke the camels back.
However though, Hezbollah in previous years have kidnapped many Israeli soldiers but why attack Lebanon now?
Is it trying to bring Syria and Iran into a wider conflict thus giving the USA the go ahead to wage war with yet another Islamic country?
Only time will tell, however though this crisis has been simmering since the annexation of Palestine and the creation of Israel.
However reading many posts it seems that some Americans are very ignorant when it comes to Arabs/Muslims.
I urge you to spend some time reassessing your prejudices, look at www.bbc.co.uk/news
You will then get a great retrospective of the crisis and why it happened

Hezbollah captured 2 Israeli soldiers in an attempt to negotiate for some of the 10,000 Arab prisoners in Israeli jails!
Israeli reacted with a dis-prportionate assault targetting Lebanon's infrastructure and civilians!
Israel changed their goals as follows:
Return the 2 soldiers. Destroy Hezbollah. Stop the missile attack by Hezbollah. Weaken Hezbollah. Minimize the missile attacks by Hezbollah!!
The Israeli golas haven't been achieved and they realized that with the ground troops battles and as they faced fearce fighting from Hezbollah!!
The real goal of the violent Israeli assault is obvious now after almost a month: Target the people. Only the people can make Hezbollah stop.
This though is creating a negative result since the mothers of killed children and the people with destroyed homes are still backing up Hezbollah -more than ever actually!!

Current conflict? This has been going on for years, but Hez crossed the border and kidnapped 2 Israeli soldiers. Israel shows no sign of weakness and refused to release hundreds of Arab prisoners in exchange for the 2 soldiers. Someone should simply turn the middle east into a glass factory and make life easier for the rest of the world.

The Palestinian/Israeli conflict would be solved by utilising the Israeli's and the Palestinians. between the greater proper plans is the Saudi Plan that unifies the Arab worldwide places into one 22 state %. and create a non violent negotiations with the Israeli's. yet another plan is the President Nicholas Sarkozi of France's plan to sort a Mediterranean %. of countries, which might contain northern Africa and the ecu Union alongside with maximum, no longer all the Arab countries (with Libya as having onlooker status, yet no longer a vote casting member) and Israel. there is a fantastic sort of headroom for commerce agreements and protection subjects which would be dealt with on a much greater negotiated platform among the member countries. without the help of Europe, it could be very perplexing to hold some lasting peace among the Persian Gulf States/countries. President Obama could be a third occasion interest in any negotiations between t

HERE IS THE early chronology:
1- at 08:10 on Wed 12th July, Hezbulla fighters captured two Israeli soldiers, so as to recover the Lebenese civilians who were kidnapped by Israel some years ago.
2- at 09:45 same day, the Israeli jets bombarded the southern quarter of Beirut (the capital)....killing more than 30 civilians in one shot.
3- Later the same day, the Israeli jetfighters bombarded almost 30 Lebanese villages and towns.
4- next day: Hezbulla warned Israel that if it continues to bombard the civilians and the capital, Hezbulla will start firing rockets at Israeli northern towns. ISRAEL DID NOT CARE .... and continued.
5- third day: about 300 Hezbulla rockets hit the northern settlements (mainly populated by retired soldiers).
6- AND so went the war... but on the 19th day, Israel started to intentionally commit massacres: the town of Qana in Lebanon ...hit by an American smart bomb ...fired by an American-made jet .. murdering 57 civilians who were hiding in the basement (37 infants were torn apart).
7- CASUALITIES:
1050 Lebanese civilians (600 children and infants) + about 45 Hezbulla fighters.
About 30 Israeli civilians + about 50 soldiers.

Hezbollah kidnapped 2 Israeli soldiers and they declared war. Israel says that the war will be over when Hezbollah hands over the soldiers and the Lebanese gov takes over the country. Hezbollah says Israel needs to give back some farms in the south back to Lebnon that belonged to Lebnon long time ago, release the thousands of prisinors and remove the mines somewhere in the area, but this war was started by Hezbollah.

Not too sure, but Hezbollah had a lot to do with it. Go to a search engine and do a search on Hezbollah. However, I do think it was the capture and kidnapping of 2 Israeli soldiers that led Israel to go after them.

Yeah basically the kidnapping of the two Israeli soldiers was the tipping point that led to this escalation.
