I want to be able to let my voice be heard. I don't usually care so much about politics but this is personal and I would like to be a part of the devolpment. What can I do?

As a matter of timing, it looks like the Senate Bill isn't going anywhere this year. It definitely won't until after November. Pence has another plan (you can look it up on his web site) which I also personally disagree with, but it is the other thing, besides the House and Senate Bills that is being discussed right now.
As for me, if we fix the problem and get REAL border security and enforcement (not what Bush wants), I would go for screened amnesty of only those present, but not to bring in family except under existing quotas.
Our schools are already failing in our border states. On the other hand, I can't see us steeling ourselves to years of mass deportations of cub scouts, honors students and PTA volunteers.
I think that after elections will be the first real discussions and I suspect it will be on a totally new Bill.

The President does no longer have the means to do something different than stir the pot. he's not a frontrunner. he's a divider, a concern maker. He does no longer have any adventure. He has the the two residences of congress and the authority yet extremely no longer something gets achieved. he's the least experienced guy in any room he walks into. His healthcare is approximately to be repealled, the oil spill is getting worse, Korea and Iran are waiting to boil and the financial gadget is a disaster.
