8. Ben and Jeff built their last computers together.

Some of you have got half of it right but none of you have got all of it... I want the NAME of the murderer AND the victim. They are both names mentioned in the original text.

Jack is the victim because he is in seclusion and Jeff is the murderer because Dan and Ben were in NYC, Jeff couldn't run in the marathon because his leg was amputated,(Dan was heavily drinking water during the marathon). Ben met Jack (the victim) through Jack's brother, Jeff, 6 months ago. Jeff is a computer geek and Seattle has a lot of those. Mike was a country boy, so he didn't grow up with Jack. Ben and Jeff helped each other building computers because Jeff needed help after his leg was amputated and to thank him, he wants to install Ben's new computer next week. Jeff killed Jack because after Jeff lost his leg he has been angry and depressed and Ben was a good friend and Jack wasn't there for Jeff.

Dan can't be the murderer, because he ran in a marathon, which would be impossible for someone only a month away from an amputation.
Mike can't be the murderer. The murderer grew up in the city and Mike wanted to be a farmer.
Ben can't be the murderer, because he can't be Jack's brother, they just met.
Jack can't be the Murderer, because the muderer is his brother.
This leaves Jeff, who is the murderer.
Ben is not the victim, Jeff wouldn't kill him because he wants to install his computer.
Jeff isn't the victim, he's the murderer.
There's no real way to exclude Dan and Mike as the victim, but my guess is that Jack is the victim, since he's been in seclusion...in the city morgue!
Jeff killed him becaue Jack backed over his leg with his hummer, causing the need for the amputation, overcome with pain, he murdered his brother in a fit of temporary insanity.

Jeff is the murderer.
As Mike did not grow up in the city, and the murderer grew up in Seattle.
Dan ran the NC Marathon, and the murderer has only recently lost a leg.
Ben only met Jack 6 months ago, and the murderer is Jack's brother. Similarly, Jack is not his own brother. Leaving only Jeff.
I'd guess Ben is the victim. As he has built his 'last' computer. Jeff killed him for the computer, but as he's going to be caught it'll Jeff's last computer, too.

I think that Dan was the victim ( he USED to drink heavily...)
and that, the murderer, is in this room.
Jack - has been in hiding, but he has an air-tight alibi.
Ben is a bit of a computer nerd, And he is a friend of Jack's. Not his brother.
Jeff - still on that old Illiterate but alliterate brothers thing.... is the most likely perp - after Ben met Jack, Jack introduced him to his brother (Jeff) as Ben was looking go get a computer and Jeff is a bit of a whizz in that department.
Jeff was jealous of Ben's relationship with DAN (Ben went running in the marathon with him)... and was in a fit because he couldn't run the marathon himself having just lost a leg.
So he killed Dan. And wants to ingratiate himself with Ben by building him a new PC.
Jack has already figured out that it was his brother.
Jeff now wants to install an new computer for Ben

Jack's brother Jeff is the murderer. They both grew up in Seattle and that's why Jeff is a computer geek.
Jack has been in seclusion because he knows his brother did it and is hiding him or something.
Jeff killed Dan. He didn't kill Ben because he wants to (plans to) install Ben's computer next week.
Why is Mike in here?! No one knows him.
Dan knows one of them; Jack knows his brother; Jeff & Ben know each other; Ben knows Jack.

I think that Dan is the murderer (despite number 4) and Jeff is probably the victim.
I don't have any reasons as to why, but I just want to go against what most of the people have said.
BTW, it wouldn't matter if you have one leg or not, you could easily use a prosthetic leg...
