I pay a stupid amount on council tax already and i know im not alone. why do we have to pay for the illigal immigrants coming into this country! they should pay! not us!

What does council tax pay for?
Council tax raises about £21 billion and provides part of the money that is needed to provide the services that our local communities need, for example policing, providing support to the elderly and vulnerable, the maintenance of parks and open spaces, getting rid of our rubbish and keeping our streets clean.
Not sure after reading that how paying council tax is paying for illegal immigrants.
In my area it pays for the police, fire, social services and the above.
Housing benefit might originally come from the council tax but the local council claims it back from government is my understanding.
I feel at the moment the media is making a mountain out of a molehill regarding illegal immigrants. A lot of people from eastern Europe came to Calderdale when the conflict was on but when it all settled down they all went home.
It was reported when some of the previous Russian countries became part of Europe there would be an increase in people wanting to live here. Sorry I have not noticed a big swell as predicted by the papers.

Don't be fooled into thinking that is why our council tax is going up. It is going up because that dumb idiot that was voted to rule this country is spending our hard earned money to go attack countries that have nothing to do with us. And now not only are we afraid to get on the tubes and trains to go to work because we are worried that we will get blown to pieces as a retaliation from someone over here whose relative just got blown to pieces in Iraq. We become poverty stricken as a result of paying for George Bush's oil war. We don't rule this country but then again neither does Tony Blair. George W. Bush rules this country. Look at the extradition system in which the US government can come into this country and extradite British citizens for suspected crimes against the US and the UK can't do the same.
It is all BS. And now more immigrants, both legal and illegal, will enter the UK because we blew up their homes, overthrew their governments and destroyed their livelihood. Its a never ending cycle.

your not paying for the immigrants the government is just having a pissy stupid day and they know that they have ran the country into the ground and bled all the money they can (hence them moving onto other countries) and so they have no one else to blame. its only really crap papers like the mail who will print these stupid stories. the government are the ones that have opened the doors to these people and it will ultimatley be there fault if they decide to start bleedingmoney from all the enlgish people as well, it is there fault not the poor scapegoats that have come here looking for anywhere there not immediatley gonna get stabbed! Our government sucks ***!!!!!! they wont be happy until the education is non existant or only available to the richest people, till we all pay for our own crappy healthcare and none of us have got teeth cos there is no money to be made in helping us with our teeth.

Perhaps you can send in a list of the names and addresses of the illegal immigrants so that they can send them the bill.
The Local Government Association are just saying this will happen so that their members (councils) can get funding increases from the government. They're hoping that people will be upset and put pressure on the government. If they're successful, then of course the government will pay more to cover these alleged cost increases. It's just a political tactic. Get upset when it happens. A couple of years ago their tactic was to say that they wouldn't be able to pay teachers. It's always a variation on the same theme.

Well said. The government have banned asylum seekers from working - they have to live on benefits (and very good ones too) so in a way it is not their fault - I'm sure lots of them would like to contribute.
However, once again our government has decided that the general British public can pay for them instead! Well done Blair!

If there is'nt a war or anything near a war why not send them back to their own countries.WHY WHY WHY Have we got to fork out for some people who just wanna sponge and ridicule us.
And another thing did anybody watch that documentray last night About what Muslims want?Who gives a #@$K .If you want to live in a muslim state go back to your Muslim country.

I agree, I don't mind them being here but I do not want to pay some lazy so and so to blag benefit money and get a free council house!

FAIR only to the extent that payers didn't raise hell when the illegals problem was manifestly in its early stages.
