according to wikipedia..."The single-lens reflex (SLR) is a type of camera that uses a movable mirror placed between the lens and the film to project the image seen through the lens to a matte focusing screen"..

in simple terms it is da type of camera with da big zooms tht can be attached and detached..dey r more for professional and serious users..dey can also be quite pricey...but for personal and home users normal digital compact camers are well worth it in my opinion,,,

SLR stands for Single Lens Reflex, it refers to "old school" type film cameras (35mm type) mainly.
