#1 Make sure he doesnt have an infection...a vet can check this, and may be easily taken care of with medication
#2 Make sure his litter box is clean -he may not want to potty in a dirt box
#3 Placement of the box. You may want to add another litter box in a new private area.
#4 You didn't change the litter from clumping to clay? or vise verse, some cats just do not like to go in certain substrates. If u did change it back and place him in it a couple time so he can see u changed it.

You wouldn't get rid of your son or daughter if they wet the bed would you?? Pets are not disposable, please don't treat them as such.

the poster is right who said that the cat thinks your bed is a big litter box. My cat didn't pee on my bed, she likes to be on my bed tho and I don't want her to. I got a shower curtain and put that over the bed to protect it,, you might need two, and I do keep the door to the bedroom shut when I'm not home. and if I do catch her on it I say "UHHHH!" and rattle some newspaper at her to get her off.

To prime the litter box, put a little of your pee on it so it smells like pee.

It's all a matter of instincts and training. Cats normally have an instinct to find dirt to pee in. But if your cat was weaned too early and has never been outside then it might be confused. The mother cat usually teaches the kittens to use kitty litter.

Hmmm. Well I've had one crazy cat (they go senile in old age, quite often) that peed next to her litter tray rather than in it, but never anything in my bed or anywhere else. Is she fully peeing or is she marking it as territory with a small spray? The only reason I can think of is that perhaps it already smells of pee? If not, it's possibly a sign of extreme dissatisfaction. Also take her for a check-up as it could be something more serious that she's trying to bring to your attention.

EDIT: oh and that other person above is right - she'll never stop peeing there now. Clean everything with white spirit and biological washing powder, but you'll have to keep her out of the room now as it's unlikely you'll get everything out. As for why she's doing it, that's something you need to work out.

i had the same problem with a kitten, my wife used vinegar in our bed to try to cover up the smell so that the cat would stop.(it didnt make our bed smell like vinegar but 4 like 5 minutes) it didnt work the cat can smell it in the bed and will not stop we had to take the cat back to parents house. u should get a siamese cat they are very smart and wont do that kind of stuff.

Take him to the vet and have him checked for a urinary tract infection and diabetes. When cats are sick or not feeling well they pee on soft things like clothes or beds. It is a way to get your attention. Wash your sheets in a citrus smell as they dont like to re-pee on citrus. Vinegar makes it worse. It could be behavioral...also put a litter box in your bedroom.
I battled this for a long time, and finally had to let my cat go to heaven yesterday :(
He peed on my bath mat all the time, that is when I took him in to the vet to get checked out.

Well...tell you what I did when mine did that. It's now residing comfortably in the garage. Mine started that habit for whatever reason and would not stop. I checked the catbox and it was clean so I susepct the damn thing was doing it for spite.
Now...clean bed and the cat has the run of the garage all to herself.

Best Way is to control it is by giving training but it is vety tough so you can do other things like take the cat regularly on walk or dont give much water milk other liquid at night.

tough question, first answer pops into my head is keep all bedroom doors closed all the time, also any other rooms you dont want the cat to have access too,
unfortunately this is a common complaint with cats, they are marking more of what they consider "their territory".......hope other folks have better suggestions, good luck, s.t. from ohio
