some states will give you a licence in the office, but others will mail it to you. also, i would like to know what are the address verification procedure in georgia. do they require you to bring in a utility bill or something to prove your address`?

A current ID and a lease, mortgage papers and/or bill, cable/satellite bill, water, gas, home phone bills will work too. Just make sure that it has your name on it. You will have to do a finger print scan and verification, an eye test and your picture is taken to get you drivers license. And yes, its handed to you on the spot. After your next 4 year renewal is due, they will mail you a statement about 6 weeks before the expiration date, and you can mail it back with your check or money order payment or go on line with a credit card and they will mail you your new license with the picture that was taken the first time. So, if you like it or don't really care, then that is the way to go because you don't have to take a day off and sit there for ever.

They do require you to provide proof of address. A utility bill, cable bill, phone bill (not cell phone) will do. They also mail the plate to you. My mother in law works in one of the tag offices. She can't even get our tags to us without having them mailed.

Yes you can get a drivers license same day. The line is an all day event.

I always get my license and tag handed to me....guess it depends on the dmv and yes you do need a utility bill.

In cobb county you bring proof of residence and ID and you can get it right onb the spot.
