I have heard that phrase many times growing up.
And always thought it was a bad thing.
I dont believe we should go through life trying to get our every whem....however the bible says you have not because you ask not.
point...
One day my husband and I were driving down the road, and out of being purely silly I said......."One of these days someone is going to hand me a thousand dollers, in Jesus name" My husband and I had been talking about faith, He said yeah right....I lifted my chin up and said, hum! watch and see. One day.
well five years later i was seperated from my husband and was asking God to lead me and tell me what to do. I was working at a restruant in another town. A man with a suit walks in and orders a meal...he then walks over and said , you asked God a question and the answer is found in (Col 3:18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.) then he handed me an evelope and walked out. He didnt know me nor i him. In it was 1000.00

About ten yrs ago I had a very good friend who was dieing of cancer. One afernoon his wife called an told me he had been admitted into the hospital and the Doctor didn't expect him to live until the next morning. After work I went to spend the night with him and his wife. He was in very bad condition and could barely whisper his words. He moaned constantly from the pain even with his morphine drip at max dosage.
The hospital had a second bed next to his for his wife to use and sometime after midnight she dozed off to sleep. At some point I started to pray and pray hard. I told God all the reasons why he should live and finally ended with "Your will not mine". I then sat back in the recliner chair and started remembering all the years of our friendship. I dozed off and was dreaming about him. All of a sudden I heard in a very loud and commanding voice "ATEN-HUT". We both had been NCO's in the Army. Out of habit I jumped out of the chair and stood at attention. Then I heard him laughing as loud as he ever had and then he said "Get me a cup of coffee"! He had not been able to drink coffee in about 6 months. He would throw it up.
To make a long story short, the doctor was immediately called and came in. He order a battery of tests that lasted for 5 days. My friend was completely cancer free and there was no signs in his body that he ever had cancer. The damage done to his brain and all his organs was gone and they were completely normal.
He is still alive and healthier than ever. He has 3 grandkids and his youngest son just graduated from OU this year.

In these last days, there are profits everywhere, and profits are not fortune tellers , but people God uses to speak his word.
Have you ever said something to someone and then wondered...
where did that come from, or why did I say that, sometimes after a few minutes it doesn't even make sense to you. Well that is what I'm talking about.
I suppose it is possible that the man could have known your husband, or been sent by him, but if I were you I would just choose to believe. I do.

God does work in mysterious ways. I'm not big on the name it and claim it, but you are right, that we don't have because we don't ask. I believe that when we ask, we need to be specific, but when we are, we might really get what we ask for, not what we really want. This has happened to me. There are some things that I have desired, such as a a couple of years ago an oil lamp. About 2 weeks ago, I was given one. This was a desire that I never prayed for, but I got it! One thing I get is favor.
There is so much more. Sometime I'll have to continue.

It's also called "creative visualization". I have used it to get a better job and it is better to not be so specific. Something along the lines of "I am now in a supportive work environment making abundant money doing work I enjoy with positive co-workers for people I respect". You focus on that and then let it go. It might come in a round about way, or a way you didn't expect, which is why you can't get too specific. Allow room for something better than what you wished for.

several years ago, with our children asleep in the backseat of our car, my husband and i were discussing our current food situation. we had been able to harvest a nice vegetable garden and had gathered enough fruit and berries to last us through the winter and into the following spring. not having any meat in the freezer was our concern. it was a quiet and brief conversation. neither one of us were distressed about it, it was more a matter of fact we both acknowledged and then were quiet as we continued on our late night drive home. we had taken a back road 'short-cut' for our route. as we drove around a corner, a large doe jumped in front of us, bounded a few times down the road and disappeared into the woods. we had slowed down to about 15 miles per hour when she left the road. then, a yearling fawn bolted across the road and into the woods. we slowed to about 7 mph. the fawn reappeared about 10' front of the car, running away and down the road. we coasted to a stop. suddenly, that fawn turned, put its head down and ran right straight into the grill of our car! the next thing we saw were 4 hooves pointing up in the air. it was a humbling moment. god does know what is written in our hearts and minds and does give us what we need just when we need it. no damage was done to the car and we gratefully had fresh venison in our freezer. keep the faith

Stranger things have happened!
Our prayer service makes reference to that which is beyond human understanding.
I have asked for divine guidance and I feel I have received it.
At the very least, prayer forces us to stop, relax, and focus our thoughts and feelings into words - stating the problem and asking for solutions. That can't be bad.
God bless!

Grace unto you and peace,
from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
$illy woman, Bible does NOT say to ask God for money, NOR to command God in anyone's name; For God cannot be tempted, nor hounded to change. It says ask God for wisdom (James 1), and clarifies how to ask: ask nothing wavering, else you'll get nothing, for being dblemindead. It also compares two sorts of wisdom in James 3, the sort from above such law law being firstly pure, also firstly peace-able of seven things pure grace is.
Speaking of comparing two (Spirit-u-all) things, perhaps you haven't (yet) noticed there's two Gods(Spirits) to sort out: one God(Spirit) on "high" in the plural and dividead law law "heavens", and one God in "heaven" that is "higher than the heavens". Pst - mind not "high" things (such as a "high" priest of a God on "high"), and be not highmindead, for it's among "unholy" things.
Law: is holy, but it's also unholy
Grace: is holy, but never unholy
Law: is good, but it's also evil.
Grace: is good, but never evil.
Law: is spiritual, but spiritual food poison
Grace: is spiritual, but it's never poison us
Solomon(the wise guy): "with all thy getting, get understanding"; and when understanding embraced result is thy head(the head of every woman is the man, the head of every man is Christ, whose head is God) gets crowned, with "grace" glory: Prov 4.
As for Colossians, it has four chap-to-her(s),
and spells out what's "against" and "with" you:
Law: is against us (Col 2)
Grace: is with you (Col 4)
As for your story, perhaps your 'husband' realized granting your $illy wish would be cheaper than paying allimony. And perhaps the reason you got separated has something to do with churchy law law you believed; not knowing "Jesus" is connected with "division" and not peace: Mt 10:34; Lk 12:51; Jn 7:43.
As to your question of miraculous things happening, yes, I've driven a car with no gas, and watched the gauge go up instead of down; Yes, when I needed milk and had no money a stranger knocked on the door and handed me milk... because "grace is sufficient". But law is not sufficient, nor merciful, nor perfect. And being Mt 22:36-40 "law law", after being "delivered from the law" (Rom 7:6) is about as dah (miss-understanding) as it gets. Jude 5 reminds us grace + law is as being saved + destroyed after.
The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
