First off, how old are you? If you're 16, this is a conversation you need to have. If you're 25, you don't really need an explaination. Just tell her you're moving on.
But leaving a job because it's too *much* responsiblity isn't a good sign for your future upward mobility. And if you're worried about the responsiblities of dealing with cash, it doesn't seem like you're ready to assume any kind of responsibility at all. Dealing with money is kind of the baseline for any kind of existence in the business and professional world. If you don't want to have to deal with it - or something a lot more costly and/or important than money - you're going to need to be something like a hotel maid, dishwasher, or grill cook. The vast majority of jobs out there involve acting responsibly about important things, be they money, expensive equipment (even ditch diggers wind up using half-million dollar machines these days), someone's kids, or someone's health.
Everyone makes mistakes, especially early in a job. It's not necessarily that big of a deal if you learn from them and don't do them again. Making an error once, even twice, is part of the learning process. Making the same error twice is certainly no reason to quit.

The best way would be to tell her little by little. Start out with one thing that happend at a time and let her think about it then another. This will prepare her for what eventually will happen. Also, start looking for a better job now and do something everyday to further that goal. She might see you doing that and be ok with it. Leave the employment section of the newspaper lieing open. Little hints like that. She may ask you first. Or just have a heart to heart talk privately when she's in a good mood.
Good luck and hang in there.

You should tell you mom that you don't think the job is really working out. It's your job. I'm not really sure what you mean by cash responsibility, but since you said you've screwed up twice, maybe it's time to find another job you are able to handle. Good luck!...I'm sure your mom will understand.

How many times do you suppose the engneers of the nuclear bomb "screwed up'? if they had quit after just two mistakes I would hate to think of how many more people would have lost their lives
No one is perfect, the more experience you get , the better you will do the job, give it some time, all will work out.
Good luck!!!!

Why not give yourself a chance at being good at your job. If your bosses are willing to take a risk with you, shouldn't you give at least that amount of effort to improve yourself, before quitting? What are you going to do on the next job, quit also because things aren't working out as well as you expected? No one gets good at anything in one day.You keep doing it, until you excel.

If your reason is enough strong, then your mother would accept you.
But what I think, you should continue your job as it is, meantime you try to find another job that you like, when you did find a good job, then you could easily leave the present one.
Good Luck.

Stay there while you're looking for another one. When you find it, tell her that you're leaving the one you have for another one that you think you're better equipt to handle and are better qualified for. She'll keep your happiness above all else, she's your mother. But if you have another one first, she'll see that you were responsible about it.. instead of just quitting and not having anything else.

Don't give up, you can do it! Unless you really hate it, then just tell your mom that you thought about it and you decided that this wasn't the best job for you and that you will be getting another soon.

if you get caught stealing the cash. your boss could do the job for you. you may even get other living arrangements too.
i would go to the doctors (i did actually). he will listen to your problems and he may find that you suffer from some kind of depression and advise.

I guess it depends on how old you are....If you are underage... Then maybe you might ask her opinion.
If your older and on your own... The only reasons I can come up with...
Tell her if;
You are supporting her,
She got you the job and is your boss...
Her close friend is your boss...
Give them great notice and you should be fine.. Just don't up and walk out on them.
