Rational people do not routinely question the existence of animals, plants, automobiles, sun, moon, stars, ad infinitum.

Since people routinely question "God's" existence, doesn't the question prove he (it?) does not exist?

Or, for that matter, don't those who offer irrelevant examples (human existence; complexity, existence of universe; etc.) as their "proof" further demonstrate "God" does not exist?

("God" meaning the biblical or "creator" God)

Clarification:

I was a practicing Christian for over 30 years and am not seeking "God," or anything other than answers to the questions asked.

I am an atheist who became an atheist because I asked myself many of the same questions I pose on Yahoo!Answers. They are not intended to offend anyone, or bait a particular group. They are honest inquiries based on the questions I asked myself.

Thanks for your answers.

I actually had this argument today with someone from the US who was on a missionary trip to the UK and stopped me on my way to go shopping downtown.

I'll tell you what I told him. Everything I experience on a daily basis is completely supported by science. I don't have blind faith. I cannot be convinced of something that there is no proof of... and I'm sorry, scriptures do not count as hard evidence.

It is questioned, because there is need to question it. There is no evidence of it, it is an empty belief. SO yes, the fact that people question it and are critical of God's existance does lead one to believe that he doesn't exist.

With all this evidence around us, we can not deny the FACT, Jehovah God does exist and so does His begotten son, Jesus Christ.
What we are doing though, FACT, is looking for excuses not to serve Him.

Jehovah God sent us His son to die for us, He even inspired men to write down His word - The Bible. With all these provisions at hand we do not have any arguable excuses left over as to why we don't want do serve God.

God demands exclusive devotion. You are either part of God's organization or you are not, there is no middle ground.

Our biggest problem, we can not conceive a world without evil. And yet before Satan rebelled there was such a place, heaven, and that heaven was to be extended to the earth. Where man were to live on in paradise for ever and ever.No death no pain. We are all so hooked on Satan's world it is scary. There will come a time though when the Devil wil be no more. Can you see how different everything will be then?

My question was that there isnt any scientific evidence on both way, but i have faith, and somehow when I read the Bible, i find the answer that I'm looking for, even the one you asked and what I asked.. You cant prove that there isn't a God by science and I cant either but by faith i can prove everything to you through the bible... what do you have?

so that means if you dont believe his existance, it means God doesnt exist..

Edit:
all the evolution, cosmology, and biologic theories can all be related with God

God is exist . that's it. even if atheism believe it or not.
you must ask your self , who build this sky , earth , animals , human being, when you die or a child born their is a life that is going on , and you do not have the power to change anything in it ,

But if you asked , why the question is asked too much ?
because too much of people think in materialism way , they want everything to believe that it is existed by touching , seeing it,
but why you have a brain ? that used it in science ? and developing the mathematics equations from nothing ? could make or create a small insect or a bee ?

plz people, this struggle of the existence of God must finish ,
Allah exists .

If God exists it's in the spirit world and we can't see spirits. Some people won't believe something exists unless it has mass that can be seen. God is an abstract theory. Too deep for some simple minds.
I know this doesn't help you to understand because you keep asking these stupid questions.

People that believe in God believe in the Bible and have faith that he does exist. "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1 Generally, people who believe the Bible don't question his existence. My belief in God doesn't necessarily stem from material proof but a spiritual proof that has existed in my life. God has given man free will so you can choose to believe or not. Personally, I'd rather believe and find out after I'm gone that he didn't exist than to not believe and find out after I'm gone that he did. It's all a matter of faith.

Unfortunately, asking this question indicates you do not want a God but a superhero who is tangible and dwells among men. One of the Indiana Jones movies gave a good analogy in the quest for the Holy Grail. He had to step forward (and risk falling) for the next step to appear. As he did so in faith, he found the evidence of each step. Since we have not managed to progress as a people and give up our worldliness, we have to move in faith until the second coming to find the steps and know God is there. When He comes to clean up the mess that we ourselves justify and embrace, then He will be among us.

I think your question is deep... but flawed.

Animals, sun, cars are experienced in TANGIBLE ways...

The expression "perception is reality" springs to mind.

God's work (if you're so inclined)... is evident, however, like the foghorn that is ever-present... since it's always there, you fail to perceive it... (then we're back to the reality thing).

I think, personally that a GOD is equally likely... as all this is an accident. LOOK at DNA, look at the IMMUNE system. Could this REALLY be a cosmic ACCIDENT?

Oh yes yes yes... I know about a billion monkeys typing on a Billion typewriters for 70 billion years, and one of them eventually coming up with War and Peace... but COME ON... DNA?

That's my thoughts... for what it's worth.

Great question.. bud... I applaud you.

Good point. Anything that exists in any way, shape, or form, has to reveal its existence in some fashion -- a fossil, a footprint, a shadow, decaying subatomic particles, SOMEthing. Tales handed down from Bronze Age herders don't count as evidence; sorry, true believers....

The fact that you are here day after day trying to convince yourself by trying to convince others is of in itself prooves that you have doubts about God, You believe but you do not want to, for if this is all there is and there is no God, then why waste time trying to convince Christians about something you have no chance in suceeding in? because if this is all there is, then why are you not out partying and having a good time, you and others like you cannot change it, you will fail, accept it. God exist's period. your lack of belief in Him will not change the facts, accept it. So where's the proof of God's existence? In accordance with our familiar axiom and in light of the tremendous advances we've made in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics and information theory, the proof of God is all around us!
When we apply the general principles of detecting specified complexity to biologic systems (living creatures), we find it reasonable to infer the presence intelligent design. Take, for example, the bacterial flagellum's stator, rotor, drive-shaft, U-joint, and propeller. It is not convenient that we've given these parts these names - that's truly their function. If you were to find a stator, rotor, drive-shaft, U-joint, or propeller in any vehicle, machine, toy or model, you would recognize them as the product of an intelligent source. No one would expect an outboard motor -- much less one as incredible as the flagellar motor -- to be the product of a chance assemblage of parts. Motors are the product of intelligent design.
Furthermore, the E. coli bacterial flagellum simply could not have evolved gradually over time. The bacterial flagellum is an "irreducibly complex" system. An irreducibly complex system is one composed of multiple parts, all of which are necessary for the system to function. If you remove any one part, the entire system will fail to function. Every individual part is integral. There is absolutely no naturalistic, gradual, evolutionary explanation for the bacterial flagellum
