its just the way we are wired
that is like asking why men want to go out in the middle of nowhere and not shave, shower or use a toilet for days or weeks at a time... its just the way they are...
besides if it were left to the man we would be standing around in street clothes wondering when the officiator is coming and where the rings are

I don't. I don't see the point in a huge overblown ceremony. It is not going to make a difference to how your marriage turns out.
