Shes so nice to me and pays me for whatever i do for her, but she always tells me where her purse is to take the money out myself. Since i started i been taking more but now its got out of hand. The worst thing is her son is doing it aswell. Should i let the police know he's taking her money?

Yes. Stop taking extra money yourself and let the police know that her son is taking advantage of her. Many older people don't have a lot of savings and live off of very little so this could really hurt her. Do the right thing. You have already taken the 1st step by realizing that what you have been doing is wrong and by wanting to make it better. Good for you!

How do you know that her son's taking the money? have you caught each other at it or something? As you've been stealing from her too, it's not your place to tell. If you know he's stealing, he'll possibly know you're stealing too. He'll drag you down with him. Stop stealing from her, and, if possible, put the money back, gradually if you can, or take less than you earn and add up until you have paid her back. Even if you have to give up luxuries for a while. Unless you do this, you'll have lost my respect, and the respect of anyone else who knows until you make things right. Obviously you realise that you are doing something wrong, and that is a great start. You need to make amends or it will haunt you. Think of it this way, that poor old lady may not be able to pay the central heating bill this winter as she needs £50 more than she has. That £50 is in your pocket. She gets Hypothermia and dies. You find out and are guilty for the rest of your life. You don't want this to happen, do you?

Please straighten your life out, before it's too late.

Do you really think that by going to the police it justifies what you are doing?! I think not! You really are the lowest of the low to steal from an old lady and the fact that her son is doing it as well is definitely like you say not the worst thing. I just hope that somebody else with a conscience knows whats going on and reports the both of you. If you do live till you're old enough to be old I sincerely hope you suffer the same fate!

i think it is a terrible thing what you have done... and i think i would feel guilty too....i think i would put the money back if you can....and i do not know what to do about contacting the police...i think it would be different thoughts and pros and cons on all sides...i just think it is terrible than you and her own son can do this...taking advantage of a old lady...my son has did this to me and i know it...i still try to help him but i do not trust him at all anymore...well not when it concerns important things...i know i would feel guilty and i would not rest until i found a way to pay her back...and i do not know the best advice about what to do about her own son.....is there anyone else you can tell about this and maybe get some help for her....

The police? No. You probably can't make a complaint like that to the police. She would have to, as she's the victim. You should replace what you've stolen and own up to your own mistakes before you start being concerned about her son's actions. The worst thing is that YOU are doing this. Replace it all, admit your wrongs, and stop taking advantage of this woman immediately.

Tell her that you suspect her son is taking money and that she needs to put her purse in a different place. Then say that you think perhaps that you have sometimes taken more than you should and that you feel bad about it, so, in future, if she asks you to take the money, you will always do it in front of her and say what you are taking.

I think you needn't tell the police until you have squared your own conscience. The world won't end if you admit that you have maybe taken more than you should to her.

yes, let the police know her son is taking money out of her purse. it is your obligation as a GOOD person, because stealing from an old lady is wrong.

Shame on you. You should give her back all the money and tell her what you have been doing. Stop trying to pass on the buck to her son. You have done wrong! Shame on You!

I just looked at your previous questions and you seem to have a lot of issues. You need to sort yourself out before anyone else falls into your path.

What, tell the police her sons been taking the money even though you have too? You have no right to report a crime to the police that you are involved in without reporting yourself to.
