I'm an atheist but i agree with you. England was founded as a Christian country and i feel every time we give in to political correctness we are losing a part of our history and culture. I have no problem if religions want to have a pressence in the country but i don't feel it should force out others.

England is still a fairly chilled out place when it comes to religion and race, compared to many other countries. I don't have a problem with people believing what they want to, providing they don't shove it in my face and look down on me as being lesser because I choose to be an athiest.

I believe religion should be a personal choice, and so people trying to influence me would just annoy me. It is my own soul, after all, not theirs, and I can choose what I want to do with it.

Our culture has long been influenced by others, due to the British Empire. (A rather unChristian thing...all this selling people for slavery, wasn't it? Yet we did do it...and for a long time British people didn't think it was even wrong)

A lot of words and things ingrained into our life now are from other countries, yet we think of them as British. How many Indian words and foods do we use now? It wouldn't bother me if a church turned into a mosque. There are many, many churches and few mosques, and many Muslims tend to revere their holy buildings a lot more than Christians seem to in this day and age. If there are a lot of Muslims locally it would make sense, rather than building another building. It should get looked after well, at least!

What the British culture is lacking is respect for others. And that means British people of all religions and faiths. Though I am certain that compared to many other countries now, we may well still have a lot more respect for others than they do!

Yes, you have a point but there is a reason as to why the local church became a mosque. You say it can hurt your culture spiritually. Firstly there has to be spirituallity for it to be hurt. Christianity is not churches in the first place. The human heart has to be the church and everything else will follow.
Look at the people today and see how materialism has them in its stranglehold. What are young people up to? Binge drinking, casual sex. There is no respect for the elderly. They are to be thrown in old age homes to rot. Single motherhood is no longer seen as deprimental to a childs development. Parents are no longer setting examples to kids, they are too busy in getting material goods for them. The west has forgotten that the human being needs the soul to be nourished as well. Modern life styles are to to be used to make our lives comfortable we don't have to be slaves to them. Selfishness is the main problem. The Individual has become the center of western society, which has broken the family. The family is the first school and it is there that sharing and caring is learnt, love and sacrifice is learnt. The family had to be fixed and half the psychological problems in this country will be solved.
Community life has to be there. I don't even know who my neighbour is. I just know that he drives a green car! Indifference is a huge problemin the west. We are more concerned in going to Mars then stepping across the street to know our neighbours. Our houses are becoming larger and our hearts smaller. In an atmosphere like this humans cannot develop spiritually.

Ask yourself WHY the church is now a mosque. Because the majority of people in this country couldn't give a toss about religion and Muslims do! So much for being a Christian nation!

I am English my ancestors are English I object to you saying we are a Christian nation I'm pretty certain my ancestors were Pagans who your lot burnt as witches just because they knew how to heal others with herbs and plant extracts 'ooh only Jesus is allowed to heal the sick let's burn the Hags', I'm sure you are getting at the Islamic faith they worship the same God as you, you dimbo Jesus tells you to worship God not Jesus, not Mary but GOD does he not ?are you with the National Front or What? Tolerance my lovely Tolerance, I'm more concerned about this Country becoming Americanised and the fact that we are being taken over by America, not non-Christian religions. What a wimpy thing to say honestly you're just prejudice go on admit it. Why mention other countries in your question I don't get it, you're not trying to start a fight, Do me a favour!!!!!!!

It is race with which you should be concerned. The English are a racial group, not a religious group.

Race is the fundamental division of mankind. Not religion, not citizenship, and not class. You can gain wealth or lose it. You can gain a religious faith, or lose it, or change it. But you can't change the race you were born to. Laws can affect the inheritance of money; they cannot affect the inheritance of race. Race predates countries and religions. Race would exist even if mankind had never evolved intelligence.

The Code of Chivalry says that you shall love the nation in which you were born. Your nation is your race. It is not a political institution, but a biological one. Nation, like nativity, comes from the Latin word meaning "birth." Every soldier who ever wore a uniform also wore his real uniform underneath. The world wars were White civil wars.

Keep your country White, and it will be the land of my brothers, no matter which god they choose to worship.

we were founded by Christians but with the concept of religious freedom, because many of the first settlers came here to avoid religious persecution in Europe. I think most of us recognize that for us to then turn around and create a State Religion ourselves would be hypocracy at its lowest. Our sense of civility, freedom, and humanity is what puts us ahead of nations like Algeres (sic). If you like religiously-restrictive settings, consider relocating to western Pennsylvania or Utah, or perhaps the Third World.

No 'English' people are forgetting religion all together, the reason the local church is now a mosque is because we are inundated with other cultures!

We have lost anything that was once British, we have given more power to any other religion or minority. We have no rights. If you are a onelegged gay asylum seeker you will get any job any benefit. If you dont you can take them to court. If you are white British, forget it. We have given our heritage away far to cheaply and becomming a laughing stock of the world.

It makes me angry, Im sure people we class me as racist, or predjudice, but Its not ment in that way, we should all be equal and have the same rights.

I agree in a way that I believe the English (me included) should speak up more about our beliefs. We should celebrate St. Georges Day in the way that Wales Scotland and Ireland celebrate. We should start to feel good about being English like others do whatever country they're from.
