You will either have to keep her away from other dogs no matter what or you can try one of those doggy diapers and see if that works. Dont let her run loose at all or you will be asking for trouble.

Keep her on leash at all times and never let her out of your sight for a moment.
After she stops bleeding there will come a clear yellowish fluid - that is when she is most receptable.
You need to watch out for at least 3 weeks from the first day of bleeding.
Her being friendly and rolling over has nothing to do with it - when heat hormones kick in she will definitely be ready to keep standing upright to get mated by a male dog. Normally this would not mean that she gets hurt, "only" that she gets pregnant.
So keep her under observation and do not under any circumstances let her off leash before heat is over.
Then get her spayed

Leave her at home with a friend or relly and tell them not to let her out of the garden and also to watch her while out in the garden, I had a GSD a few years back who I thought I had watched 100% of the time, but there must have been half a percent when I blinked or something!! as the scraggy mutt from the next village (always wandering the streets) got to her!!
It wouldn't be fair to leave her shut up in a strange place either.
You won't have a restful holiday I don't think if you have to take her with you. If you walk her anywhere on a lead she will be leaving her scent everwhere and if dogs follow you back and try to get to her male dogs can be very aggressive at this time, it 'a wanting to pass genes on' thing! and if there is a couple of them and they start fighting!!...........for your own sanity and mine please leave her at home.
GOOD LUCK!!

There isn't really a way to keep her away from other dogs. the best thing to do is another dog is approaching her pick her up so that they can't get to her.
In the past Vets normally advise me that it is best to let a dog have one season before getting her spayed. If you are getting her spayed, which you should you will need to do it 3 months after her season has finished.
Good luck and don't worry. If she doesn't want to be touched by another dog she will let them know!

She is going to attract attention. and when she gets to the right point of her season she wont roll over she will stand. the only thing you can do is keep her on a lead and shoo other dogs away, also go to the pet shop, you used to be able to get some spray to disguise the season, if they still sell it, it will help, and you can also get some tables from the vet if she is caught a bit like the morning after pill.

Have her spayed NOW, and board her at the vet while you are away so that she can recoup. Dogs reach sexual maturity at 6 months of age.

I face the same problem with my pup, I'm afraid, i just have to stay with her at all times, or when there really is no other option but to leave her alone, I have to lock her up in the kitchen. Good luck, and I hope you enjoy your holiday!!

Keep her on a leash and in your control at all times. Don't let her run free even for a minute. You may want to invest in those special doggy underwear if you haven't already.

Keep her in the car, on the boat, anywhere a male dog cannot get to her! He will smell her for miles...and may even get aggressive or stupid to be with her. Please be carefull, and GoodLuck!
