Yes they are so funny moms and dads aren't they with some of the daft saying they have like,
If you don't stop crying I will give you something to cry about,
Don't look at me in that tone of voice,
Don't come running to me when you break your legs,
Tell you to grow up then treat you like a child.
They are great parents aren't they.

I remember my dad saying "If you two don't calm down, I'm going to turn the car around and go back home!" while on the way to a fun park.

Funny thing is now I am a dad, I may use that threat but I would never carry it out cos I am just as excited now at going on a day out as I ever was and I bet my dad felt the same back then!

6 of one and 1/2 a dozen of the other - HUH?
My mother would also repeat (over and over) lines she liked that she had read in a book. "A knife, a little knife, that you hold in the palm of your hand." That line came from a play. When I saw the play, many years later, this line comes at the dramatic climax and I'm sittling in my chair laughing my head off. Not good.

My dad would say " Iam going to rip off your arm and beat you over the head with the bloody stump" It is kind of funny now, but some people would think it was abuse!

Yeah my gran used to tell me 'i was never to old to get a smacked ****' - this was usually in a very public place when i was being insolent. My mother also used to use the good old ' that's it i'm phoning the childrens home to take you away. . . ' - I got wise to that one pretty early though.
