Do you think world war III will possibly be started? what might be the causes?

Israelis are in war and Lebanones announced Jihad, Iraq is still fighting with USA, many states are in competion for nuclear weapons, may these lead to world war III?

I seriously believe that the United States is not doing enough to stop the tension between these countries.

If israel should decide to hit Syria, it would spell the most critical time since the Cuban Missle Crisis.

The world would hang in the balance of a few people.

I don't think it is a matter of it starting, it is here. As the terror escalates, we will start to call it WW3, or WW4 (Cold War is often considered WW3). I think the hard part is defining the starting point of the war. This war will not be a conventional war. It will be a terrorist war. The Towers and the Pentagon were hit on 9/11. A train was hit in Spain on 5/11. London transit has been hit. Bombs are raining the skies over Lebonon, Israel and Iraq. Iran's government has 52,000 suicide bombers trained. A major terrorist plot has been discovered (bombing planes over the Atlantic). Remember the millenium terrorist plot that was foiled (Seattle)? This has been going on for a long time...the boat in Yemen that blew up? The tourist resort in Africa that was bombed?Remember Bali?

Call a spade a spade...we just have not gotten used to the label yet. The more destruction, the more blood, the more gore, the closer we get to giving this mess a name.

I don't suppose anyone of you experienced World War 2. For those who have, you will know the horror of millions of people dying. World War 3 will not be triggered by the major powers of today because they already know no one wins in an all out nuclear war. As evil an empire as Reagan painted the Soviets, Kruschev had not desire to push the US into war. That was why he backed down during the Bay of Pigs. They too, value life more than death.

World War 3 may very well be triggered by some rogue nations or religious zealots who get their hands on a nuclear device and push the button on U.S. soil. At that time, the U.S. have no choice but to retaliate by nuking this source as well as its allies. It is the same reason why Iran and North Korea must not be allowed to have nuclear devices and must not be allowed to export their technology.
