how could he have discovered america, when there were people there before him? didn't those ones discover america, rather?

Columbus was the one who told the rest of the world that the place existed, thats why he "discovered" it. there are stories that there were many people who disovered america before columbus, but just did not tell the rest of the world. and for the people who were already there, is not like they told anyone outside of america about it.

Darn good question sweetie, I'm an aussie, lets ask the aboriginals about Captain Cook discovering Australia. I'd think they'd say no dude you didnt discover this country, we've been here for centuries, but hey why dont you come here, take over and make us all insignificant.....

that is one of the greatest lies in history that have been taught to generations of people... but the united states isnt ready to handle giving credit to a peoples other than caucasion for discovering the americas... that alone would cause an apocolypse

He took the credit ! He just took his finding to a large civilized population. History and information is not always 100% correct it is just information translated from someone else who is not 100% correct! People love drama and attention!

there were others here before him, he was able to get back to tell about it (Used the winds, he understood their patterns). A good sailor that Christo's was !
