it is the mark of the beast. In the last days, the Bible say we will be not be able to buy or sell without this mark.
Read Revelation chapter 13-17 to help understand. This is all prophesy that John saw. God revealed to him what would happen in the last days.
The beast is presumably Satan. The others that are mentioned I think are his demons. His "assistants" if you want.

The 666 is a time frame when the anti Christ will appear on the world stage as a politician and make peace in The middle east and then claim to be god! It happens when the in revelations the 6th seal is opened and the 6th vile of Gods wrath is dumped and when the 6th trumpet blast, at the same time he will appear on the world stage and you will see him! And not to far off!

Its a mark that goes inside the right hand and/or fore head. Without it you won't be able to buy or sell. And if you take it you will go to hell.

666 is the mark of the anti-christ, which is detailed in revelations (in the bible). Basically, 666 is the anti-christs number, the anti-christ is the one who leads the world into armageddon. People still alive are supposed to choose between God and Satan. Then god gets into the act and goes into full blown old testament kick-a$$ mode, destroying everyone who doesn't choose him. Then jesus jumps in to defeat the kingdoms of earth, which are all against _him_.
This leads to 1,000 years of war, death, and destruction, after which God takes everyone he doesn't like (non-christians), tosses them into a lake of fire and moves everyone else into a new and improved earth, populated exclusively by christians and which happens to be a Paradise (naturally).

6 is meant to show imperfection (7 is perfection) so saying 666 is like yelling something three times it shows the importance and pronounces the anti-Christ as your lord.
